We as a culture move towards a place where individuality plays a central role.

Every year we are more picky and drastic about the things we like because the world is goimg that way. The internet being the main reason. That's why nowadays fans need their artists to do exactly what fans want, or else they'll stop supporting them. It's that easy. You either cater to my every desire, or you go down.

That's part of the reason why fans nowadays turn their backs so easily on their faves.

Oh, I'm just visiting-

Phoenix

People here expect too much from her. She's a pop artist an entertainer. She makes art and we're here to see it and maybe like it. She's not producing cookies or stuff so you can request "I want the chocolate ones". Bye.

Maybe it's to do with some fans taking anything negative said about Gaga personally. Same with the sales. The flop that was ARTPOP (which it wasn't at all) had some fans taking that personally.

With the jazz album, it affects them personally too. Most Gaga fans love pop music and if the one artist that they adore so much changes that at all, they'll get pissed off because Gaga is like a part of who they are. If that part changes, they don't want to change with it because they feel like that's not who they are.

But this is all an opinion of course :toofunny:

Yes it happens to an extent with other things, but pop Stan's can be the worst. I think it's because pop is based on personalities more than music, and for some reason Stan's get their own egos tied up in their "favs" achievements. In order to justify their own choice they need others to fail and hence they attack.

It's supremely idiotic IMO and a sign of their own low self image.

On the plus side Stan's can also be super supportive to an artist. But they should not need to attack others.

I have been wondering for months if the hate and negativity in Gaga's fanbase might drive her away from pop.  I was thinking more on the lines of retirement, or something completely different like Broadway, but I still wonder.

I live outside the space time continuum.

I hope not, and it's kind of weird how they are SO ADAMANT about not supporting her jazz record when they purchased her perfume that had nothing to do with pop music, they bought all her magazines because she was on them, and for some strange reason creating an album with a legend is seen as "stabbing them in the back"

I mean get real people.

Agreed. It's sad but I do the Same thing. I'll say sh!t like "oh I love katy Perry's music I just hate her" why? I don't know her... Same for Christina. Several songs of here on repeat but I kept talking about my dislike for her. When the Britney/gaga fued happened a couple years ago, I tore Brit apart, and I used to love her to pieces. She was the 2nd album I ever bought as a kid.

It's like my fandom and ego for gaga has driven to me immensely dislike other artists...and for what?! Competition. It's stupid and petty. I'm an educated mature man with a life outside pop music but I find myself entangled in these trivial shenanigans.

I would buy Katy's, Britney's, Miley's, Christina's music, because I enjoy their music, but I refuse to buy there music because they are competition to gaga.

I'm sure the Katy kats, smilers, ect do the same.

If we could all exist peacefully, I'm sure pop music sales would double if not triple

somebody needs to write a doctoral thesis on the psychology of pop music stans.   There is a gold mine of interesting behavior going on. :)

Stans want a healthy pop music industry more than anything but they actively work at tearing it apart.   It makes no sense.  Support all artists that you listen to, and the industry will better be able to find and nurture exciting newcomers.

Whispering

And to answer part of the OP, when Gaga promises you a full hand and gives u a half fingernail at best, then you should expect some fans complaining cause they're disappointed / dissatisfied. And yes I'm talking bout the ARTPOP era.

At some point you should be able to get past it though.

I didn't care for BTW, not the music or the era, but I didn't spend my days on a fanforum running it and Gaga down. I realized that many fans loved it and were enjoying the era. What sane reason would I have to run a Pop album down daily? I had better things to do with my life, so I took a break and checked in on how it was going from time to time. What could possibly be the reasoning behind staying miserable and wanting to make others miserable in the process?

All fans don't feel the same as you do about ARTPOP.  Some fans feel that Gaga gave them what she promised and that this album and tour are their favorites.

Hatred of the Good for Being the Good.

It means hatred of a person for possessing a value or virtue one regards as desirable.

If a child wants to get good grades in school, but is unable or unwilling to achieve them and begins to hate the children who do, that is hatred of the good. If a man regards intelligence as a value, but is troubled by self-doubt and begins to hate the men he judges to be intelligent, that is hatred of the good.

They do not want to own your fortune, they want you to lose it; they do not want to succeed, they want you to fail; they do not want to live, they want you to die; they desire nothing, they hate existence, and they keep running, each trying not to learn that the object of his hatred is himself . . . . They are the essence of evil, they, those anti-living objects who seek, by devouring the world, to fill the selfless zero of their soul. It is not your wealth that they’re after. Theirs is a conspiracy against the mind, which means: against life and man.

Today, we live in the Age of Envy.

Excerpts from Ayn Rand "Return of The Primitive..." (1971).

History repeats itself again, and again, and again,

I was just explaining why some fans were / are upset, i love ARTPOP as an album, but no one can deny the era was extremely disappointing for us and Gaga.
