Great lyric, still doesn't defeat her disgusting mentality that she promotes so innocently in any way.

I don't see you complaining about Anaconda. :rip:

You're pretty much just calling her fat in your last 2 sentences. Her and Adele are beautiful.

How was it insulting? She said she tried to be Anorexic, but she didn't like it. I don't see how that's offensive...?

I don't think she exactly meant it like that :rip:

By "Shake it like I'm supposed to do" she could mean something like "I have a big butt so why not use it."

1: You have to be kidding me with "tried anorexic and she didn't like it" that is the most absurd and ignorant thing I heard in a while. That is like saying I tried cancer and didn't like it or I tried having a metal disorder but didn't like it. Anorexic is a diseases not a choice! My gosh the naive statement. your not making anything for her cause just making it worse :what:

2: I didn't call her fat I said she's a bigger girl, which last time I check in her song is all about being a bigger girl my gosh or did you think it was about instruments

Please please please educate yourself a little more on what eating disorders are your comments and hers are offensive and uneducated. Before you comment on me saying that I thought it was offensive please read up on the disease :excuseme:

She was much younger when she tried to be anorexic. I doubt she knew that it was a mental disorder.

I don't understand why you all are getting so upset about this. She never said anything wrong.

If she was younger and said that now it's still ignorant, I am upset with it because eating disorders are not something you try and don't like. If you do that it's superficial but there are other people including myself who have and continue to deal with the mental anguish and pain.

her statement undermines and belittles the fact that every day is a battle with self confidence, throwing up, crying yourself to sleep, hating your body, self abuse physically and mentally by others and worst of all yourself. Saying that people just try it and can give it up like its a trend is hurtful and offensive. Believe me if I could have ' give it up' I would have but it took years and years of constant pain to finally get it under control. So this is why it upsets me. eating celery and ice for 3 hours and saying I tried to go anorexic for three hours is.... beyond irresponsible. At the least its offensive and hurtful

Anorexia chic:

Why not celebrate an hourglass figure and what the boys like as a counter-ideal?

People who are saying Anorexia is PURELY a mental disorder or disease like cancer - what do you make of this article? Does the fashion industry suffer from a mental disorder? Did it offend you that the article refers to ridiculously thin models as promoting "anorexia chic."

I'd suggest it has a cultural component, and songs like Meghan's are part of the andidote.

:wtf:

You all need to keep in mind that this is a darn pop song that was literally just made for fun by her...They even released the demo of the song because they didnt care that much - it was just to see how it would do. They didnt go back in and make sure it was all as inoffensive as possible especially when the general public finds it slightly empowering already. :lmao:

So while you are taking precious time to over a--lyze every line of this song, realize that part of writing a song like this is not "Is this line politcally correct?"

Its more like "Does it sound good to the ear? Does it Rhyme? Does it fit the context of the song? Does it add character? Does this seem relatable to people?"

That being said, I think her comparison was a little naive, but it wasn't far off or with any ill-intent. She may have honestly thought of it as possible to "go" Anorexic, because how she might view anorexia might be how its popularly viewed -- as im going to explain.  Also, you will always say something that offends someone when you are in the lime light, no matter how you phrase it. There are not people who check over every word a pop star is going to say when its not a scripted thing, and even then they may not have the foresight to stop things.

Anorexia Nervosa is an eating disorder. It is also, in short, "Anorexia" that many people develop to different extents. Some people have very very bad self images and force themselves to not eat because its "effective". That is what shes referring to.

You could claim that itd be more accurate to say "I tried to starve myself", but most people hear Anorexia and think "Not eating to become skinny/beautiful" and not "crippling disorder, irrational fear of gaining weight, incredibly distorted self image, paranoia, and not eating food because of it."

People do not all fully understand the difference between just not wanting to eat in an effort to become more "attractive" or to lose weight and having full blown Anorexia Nervosa, a mental disorder. Its a classic case of bad word association and colloquial interpretations warping the original meaning

That being said, all of you who are claiming otherwise can take several seats

The lyrics use language that is "hip" and tries to be inoffensive, but remains cheeky and sassy at the same time..."Every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top" at the end of the verse alone clarifies her intentions :smh:

私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

You can't be serious.

Posessing a literal FEAR of food is completely separate from thinness being trendy in fashion. Yes, some people who do not understand the grasp anorexia takes people with may believe that sufferers vainly want to be thin like a model, but in reality, eating disorders are based in an unhealthy relationship or fear with/of food.
