I dont think the 99 cents deal was that damaging. Ariana Grandes album was 99p like 2 weeks ago on googleplay. Many artists do it.

Tbh i think the biggest mistake was actually the album cover? It was AWFUL.

But i voted for Y&I as single because although i do like that song, i didn't really want it as a single (although the video was good though)

I honestly feel so bad for saying this, but speaking from a purely commercial and marketing standpoint, BTW and Judas should not have been singles. They're simply subpar songs. There was an overwhelming sense of disappointment from fans and, most importantly, the GP when those songs were released. Abrasive production, abrasive vocals, borderline corny lyrics, one alludes to being "born gay" and the other was widely misinterpreted as Gaga loving the devil.

It comes down the music. People like it or they don't. The end. Judas sold what it sold because everyone was waiting to see if Gaga would release another Bad Romance. When they heard Judas, a lot of people hung up the phone. Judas dropped off the radar after its debut week and TEOG debuted with far less sales than it's predecessors despite moving on to being a good size hit.

1. Scheisse - she had the hype and the following for the lead single. Scheisse would have been played on radio regardless of the lyrics, because radio knew everyone wanted to hear Gaga's new song. Considering that Scheisse is the star of the album, it probably would have done well with the GP too.

2. TEOG - even if Scheisse would've failed on the same proportions as BTW (which is doubtful) it still would have performed far better as the "highly anticipated" 2nd single than as a promo single that got rushed into the 3rd because Judas flopped.

Music. The end.

TEOG video wasn't even a problem. It's her best video yet.

I'd have to say Judas, Boomkack, and Express Ürself
