Australia raises terrorism threat level to 'high'

I honestly don't think there is any reason to panic at the present moment. They have no intelligence of plots, only capability. There's people in almost every country with the intent + capability to commit terror crimes. Plus, we've always been incredibly vulnerable due to our location. This whole thing with Abbott is really messy.

I agree. It's mainly because the arrests made in QLD for being associated with Syrian terrorist organisations, and probably the fact other countries like the UK have also increased their threat levels. There obviously is a serious worry that something could happen, but it doesn't seem like anything is 100% going to happen (I think if that were the case, we'd be on 'extreme' anyway).

Interesting that you said we're vulnerable due to location because I've never looked at it that way, but you have a point. I've always presumed the isolation of Australia could be a good thing because the population density here is far lower than other 'western' countries that Australia would be seen as less of a target.

Your point is definitely valid as well. Perhaps my point is more relatable to the concept of war - none of our most powerful allies are close within distance. I'm honestly not gonna be worried about anything unless we see direct threats of terror. Which, with the alarming growing number of terror organisation members, is definitely possible especially with ISIS being the centre of much attention as of late. BUT I think people need to stay calm until more information about these members are gathered
