It's for earnings, social media presence, video views and search hits... I said a similar thing in the original thread but, She was featured in two movies, had a number one album with three singles released, her performances garner more views than her contemporaries (with special mentions to the VMAs, AMAs, Swine and Voice performances), she announced a perfume and announced another album with Tony Bennett - which she released 2 singles from. She was in a world wide campaign for Versace and she is also on a worldwide tour right now. This is also among a lot of other things she did this year that garnered attention and income. If you compare her to somebody like Katy, who has had a hit album, two hit singles and is on a worldwide tour you can see why Gaga is on top. She is promoting far more projects, still has a very strong presence on social media and has a lot of interest from the public. It's not really that surprising.
