I just hope this is her speech to promote the "realness" of CtC, because seriously I hate this. She keeps creating all sorts of limitations for herself. "I'll be doing something that is not pop", "I'm be releasing an album of power ballads", "I won't use autotune anymore", like please stop and just do something that is inspiring and interesting. I couldn't give two ****s if she uses autotune, she only has to know how to use it the right way.

Heavy Metal Lover is an example of a super-autotuned song, and yet the autotune creates something special in that song. The same thing about Poker Face, it's her robotic voice that makes it amazing.

I just can't. I love her, and I've been by her side when she receives a lot of criticism, but this is just bs. I want to "follow" someone who's free of preconceptions about music and is not afraid to do something out of the box.

I indeed think her vocals in songs like Bad Romance or Dance In The Dark sound better cause they're more natural and deep while in songs like Paparazzi or GUY they sound so high-pitched. One of the biggest meltdowns I got from ARTPOP was how extremely high-pitched 'our lovers quarrel' from Sexxx Dreams sounded comparing it to the live version.

Dance in the Dark is filled with autotune... From main vocals, to backgroud vocals...

Girl there's a big difference between modifying the voice in an artistic way (like in HML or PF) than using autotune to make the voice sound catchier and more perfect. Like for example if you listen to Some Nights by fun. the bridge uses intentionally a lot of auto-tune and you can perfectly notice that but if you hear a Rihanna's or Katy's song you could perfectly think they have perfect voices but they don't so that's fooling the listener.

Oh and it's not the same filtering a voice (for example, with robotic sounds) than using autotune.

oh do you think so? That's not the impression it gave me from hearing the live version but i'll definitely have to check it out

:applause: Exactly. Her mantra back then in 2008-2009 was infusing technology with her brand, from her music to visuals. That's why I really like the idea that she's presenting herself as the future of pop through embracing technology. And it worked obviously. Embrace was the universal impression, hence the universal praise towards The Fame and eventually towards her as an artist as well. Now, she's saying she was forced into it, and that's the one disappointing me the most. Because by virtue of this statement, she just implied that what she has greatly done with The Fame wasn't her vision at all. Oh well.

I think, more often than not, the producers were right to tone down her vocals. If a singer is worth their weight in studio time, they will always sound bigger and "better" live. Always, and Gaga is no exception. This is like the difference between film acting and theatre acting. One medium gives the artist the luxury of making dozens upon dozens of subtle, nuanced choices. The other relies completely on dynamism. And as wonderful as Gaga's live performances are, I don't think the vocals from many of them would translate well to studio, where microphone is an inch away and it could overpower the listener in a negative way.

demanding that her singing should be made to sound more "radio-friendly"

Some of you can blame Interscope all you want, but this will happen at all record labels. Interscope actually gives her a lot of freedom to do what she wants.

leaving Interscope woudn't make it any better, Little Managers are just :emma:

Exactly what I just said :applause:

I want this so bad....she needs to find a better label...not one that ruins her career and controls her creativity...CHH.gif

ARTPOP vocals are the most "corrected" than anything else imo... I think she likes to make herself seem like more a rebel than she is, she talks a lot, but hasn't been backing it up. It'll be interesting to see if she follows through with this on her next "pop" album. C2C is obviously a break.

I get really frustrated when she acts like she is above things or pushed into corners, when it's part of her damn job. Vocal effects are flawless when used correctly.

People know she is talented- even her haters, so she needs to stop trying to prove it all the time. I think she's very insecure about it, especially after AP, so she has been hell bent on being herself, but herself is trying too hard imo. Give it another year or two and she will probably be genuinely confident in her work again, aside from C2C.

As for leaving Interscope... that's a stupid choice. It isn't their fault for anything. She works for them. Other labels would likely be even more controlling.

I think that's total bull**** too. Gaga seems like she's in a weird place personally (due to AP and essentially anything post MTN), a rebellious place, so that's affecting her judgement imo.
