I've always been the first person to whine and complain about this era, but Swinefest was amazing. I was lucky enough to be there and the whole energy was immense. ARTPOP live was magical - the best performance I've seen of anything to date.

It's a brilliant performance, probably her best show yet. It encapsulated everything I love about her, and then some. Hugely impressive.

As for the songs themselves, it's so much fun to go back and hear the songs in their rough draft, then to listen to the album and hear how things were added, deleted, or changed for the betterment of the song (not so much with "Swine", which was made for a live environment).

But yeah, Swinefest will be hard to top.

I really loved it, I appreciate her more choreographed performances but it was nice to get a break from that after an entire era of tightly organised stage shows.

To go from performances like these, and an incredible stage show like TBTWB

to a show like this was really refreshing

Yes! I completely agree. I think that's what I liked most about the show. Every song had a new side of Gaga that we had never seen before, from the crazy dancing in Aura to the raw squealing and wig-less, toned-down look in Swine to the ethereal goddess in ARTPOP and all the other 'characters' she played in the other performances. It was like she was transforming from one to the other, right in front of our eyes, which is something we'd never seen before. Aside from being the best show, I think it was also the most honest we'd ever seen her, so it was a big change from Born This Way, which had more of an agenda and was less about Gaga herself.

I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!

You're so lucky. I would have given anything to be there.

Yes! This especially!

Watching gaga get her wigs changed, make-up fixed, costume changes and watching her dancers stretching in the background was really cool. It really blurred the lines between what we consider to be performance and what should and shouldn't be seen by the audience.

It was amazing watching her transform like that in front of our very eyes :)

The swine performance when she took of her wig and had her natural hair was so ****ing punk I can't.

In my opinion, it's probably the best show she ever did. She's had better performances (like the Brit Awards and VMAs 2009), but as an overall show, I think she's never been better than she was at SwineFest. Every time I go back and watch it, I'm amazed by how well thought-out it was, how well-rehearsed it was.

The performances of Aura, Swine and ARTPOP in particular are some of the best she ever did, IMO. The passion and energy are so electric and exciting. Performance-wise, Gaga was on top of her game - even though she wasn't emotionally or physically on top at the time.

Some people have said that SwineFest hindered the era, that it took away the excitement and expectations, but I think it was one of the only things that this era got right. The one problem I can see is that we all inevitably compared the album versions to the SwineFest versions, and some of us weren't as impressed by the album versions (myself included, in the case of Sexxx Dreams and Swine). But it is what it is. I tend to think her live versions are better than the recorded songs 90% of the time, regardless of the fact we heard the live versions first with ARTPOP.

Didn't mean to waffle on so much... but I was just interested to see what people think of SwineFest, a year later?

YES! I AGREE WITH YOU SO MUCH! I've been saying for ages, Swinefest is my favourite Gaga performance, and definitely one of her best.

This performance is SO beautiful, and ARTPOP, Swine and I Wanna Be With You all reduce me to tears, different ones depending on my mood... I put it on WHENEVER I'm feeling anything negative, and it just gets me feeling happy again and feeling content with myself... Best thing about this era :flutter:

As pointed out, it was very shocking to see Gaga put on a performance like this. Usually her performances are very theatrical and bold. This was so intimate and natural. I was pleasantly surprised.

It's science, bitch

I loved it, and tbh when I first heard the album versions of Sexxx Dreams, MANiCURE and Swine I didn't like them as much as the Swinefest versions, but now I like them equally I guess. But I loved the performance - it did have an intimate feel about it.
