Artists like Sam Smith and Sia who are really talented are being able to penetrate the top 10. ARTPOP is a dated album that sounds like 2011. People are just calming down from all the electronics of 2008-2013. Eventually, pop culture will be shaken up again and that is when the new pop royalty will come in. I'll give it 5 years to a decade before this happens. The closest thing to pop royalty now is Arian being the new princess of pop and/or r&b and Nicki being the new queen of rap in the eyes of the mainstream. Im glad it has become popular again! And I ain't talking about mainstream hip-hop, but what cool new fresh rappers are coming up with now is just awesome.
