C2C is "just" covers

You're so annoying. There's no twisting here. this is what he said:

"Gaga is just a mere voice in this project, they could have hired other person to sing those songs and it would be the same, there is plenty of excellent singers out there. It is like having a 5-star chef to make fried eggs for you."

I'm annoying? You're fucking misinterpreting everything we're saying to make yourself look smarter and as if you're a "better" fan of jazz music. None of us have said we didn't like jazz music but you keep assuming that and twisting our words, such as when I said Christmas music introduced me to jazz and you said "HURR DURR CHRISTMAS MUSIC WOW SICH JAZZ MUCH KNOWLEDGE"

I'm all here for an intellectual discussion but Jesus Christ, you need to learn basic comprehension skills

Lmao you're the only one who's brought up anything about "intellectualism" here. I think you're a little sensitive, maybe talk to someone.

My only point is that it's unfair to say they're "just covers", one of the reasons being the importance of improvisation. You're the one making this complicated.

I never claimed I'm a better fan of jazz music. I'm actually questioning whether you know what's jazz and what isn't. So there you go.

If shes doing jazz then I prefer covers over the risk of getting "ja-azz ja ja jazz" on there.

This comment wins the thread.

I'm the only one who brought it up because psuedo-intellectualism isn't usually admitted by the person who does it because the point is to sound intelligent. In your case, at least, you're trying your best to sound more knowledgable in the realm of jazz music.

Both the other user and I have called you out on twisting our words, so it's clearly your problem.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. You're the one putting importance on my knowledge of jazz, or lack thereof, not me. I haven't claimed to know anything except that you can't simply call jazz renditions "just covers". It's belittling and just false.

I haven't twisted anyone's words, it's not my problem your reading comprehension is as non-existant as you've repeatedly claimed mine is. Whose the pseudo-intellectual in this case?

If you know absolutely anything about the genre or it's history, you wouldn't be using those words

Lmao "christmas" music. Yeah congrats, you're a huge jazz fan.

I care that you're speaking ill of something you clearly know little about. "I'm a huge fan of Christmas music" Give me a break.

This is you belittling me and my knowledge/appreciation of jazz music without any foundation for your claims. My point was that, by definition, C2C is full of covers no matter how much you'd like to sugarcoat it. If the word "cover" has such a negative connotation to it than use rendition for all I care, but they're essentially the same thing.

Yes, you have claimed to know things - like everytime you called something a simple fact of Jazz that of course, you know, but that we don't, despite the fact it didn't correlate at all to what we were saying? Neither of us denied that jazz has a large foundation in covers (renditions, sorry), I simply stated that the album is by definition, an album full of covers. Then you went on to assume that we know nothing about jazz, misinterpreted my statement about how Christmas music led me into listening to more jazz by saying that I just listen to Christmas music and called it jazz, and then said to Red that he doesn't appreciate jazz when you didn't even know his stance on the subject. You just couldn't allow a comment that might seem negative such as "It literally is just covers" because YOUR perception of the phrase "just covers" has a less-than-satsisfactory connotation, and instead of actually speaking with us about what we were talking about, chose to instead assume that we don't appreciate jazz. That on its own shows you are biased to the point of a fault towards jazz and Gaga doing it. I love the idea of Cheek 2 Cheek but you would say I don't. I never denied that jazz is big in covers, I just said that denying C2C is "just covers" when in actuality it is, is delusional. And this thread user has made threads like this over and over again.

Oh, am I getting too bothered by this now? I'm sorry, I should remember to be as 'not bothered' as you next time and make unfounded assumptions about the person I'm having a discussion with while subtly belittling them for supposedly not having knowledge that I assume they don't have, just for the sake of winning an argument and seeming like a better jazz listener with superior comprehension regarding the subject.

Just stop your bullshit

...uh....

That shade you just threw at Gaga's songwriting skills, you do realize that the Ra-a-a-ah, Juda-a-a-as and Aura-a-a-as only exist to make the songs catchy, radio friendly and commercial, right?
