SpaceAce 1,058
A cover song fits the definition quite nicely, thanks. After all, the bare definition is: So it can be a cover and rendition. If cover sounds too non-intellectual to you and you'd prefer to say rendition then to ahead but it's still a cover It's obvious that in my first post I was correcting him literally, because by definition, C2C is full of covers. No matter how much you'd like to sugarcoat it I speaking within terms of the genre. It's clear you don't appreciate it but damn, we're allowed to share our opinions on here, no? There's no research involved on this end - I've enjoyed the genre far longer than I've been a fan of Gaga and your belittling it is annoying beyond belief. Willy Wonka 4
I'm so glad she's doing covers and not originals. She made the right choice. She's smart.
SpaceAce 1,058
She is a great singer, best one we have in the Pop scene now maybe, still I don't have any word to express her participation in this project And I like jazz, thanks for asking. You like jazz but have no regard for the improvisation and interpretation involved... lmao thats what makes jazz what it is. I'm done here.

There's no research involved on this end - I've enjoyed the genre far longer than I've been a fan of Gaga and your belittling it is annoying beyond belief. Why do you assume this? It's clear that you just can't let people not enjoy jazz so you're going to use your psuedo-intellectualism to belittle their opinions with your biased sugar coating of the genre. I am a HUGE fan of jazz. I grew up listening to it, it is one of the few genres that soothes and calms me. I'm a huge fan of Christmas music and have been since I was young, and that introduced me to a lot of the jazz greats. Assuming shit gets you nowhere, sweetheart. I love jazz and I love that she's doing C2C. I know that jazz is focused around covers. I'm just correcting the bullshit people are spewing
lodylody 1,746
Well it is just covers Fact. "Period". And if people want more self-written/newly written songs (such as Paradise) from Gaga, then they ARE just covers. If they want new songs, covers aren't that good. They aren't saying they're not worth buying, just saying they prefer material written by herself? I don't see the issue here, but I hope you had fun writing this thread and wasting everyone's time. Didymus 34,379
I disagree. Even though jazz has a tradition of covers, I think it's more important to ask: what is another cover gonna bring to the table? I think Tony and Gaga performing jazz classics live on tour is a great idea, but a studio album? Some more recordings of famous songs? I think, with that in mind, it is in fact correct to say it's "just" another cover album, because it doesn't seem to be adding anything interesting or new at all. Yeah congrats, you're a huge jazz fan. The whole genre is defined by IMPROVISATION. I'm not making assumptions or pretending I'm smart because I know this fact. Anybody who knows the genre, know this simple fact. I don't care if people don't know it - I care that you're speaking ill of something you clearly know little about. I'm done here. Not you just transforming my "Gaga's songwriting was ignored and was just used as a vocalist" point in "Gaga performed bad and every other singer could have done better" If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating. There's no twisting here. this is what he said: "Gaga is just a mere voice in this project, they could have hired other person to sing those songs and it would be the same, there is plenty of excellent singers out there. It is like having a 5-star chef to make fried eggs for you."
