Both bring out the best out of each other, he knows how Gaga works in the studio and he knows how to produce very catchy simple sounds that are taylored for Gaga and fit her style. His work with other artists might be a little redundant but I would not blame him, it makes sense if the singer is not involved in the production and expects everything to be done by him with zero contribution.
