Wootan 0
Shame that she feels that way... Be brave, Gaga, be who you were born to be. Check out Lady Gaga when she was her own best critic and challenged herself: http://youtu.be/OxpOcSrPJ6o *hear her comments just before 3:00 about comparisons and her work She embraced who she was, didn't give a damn about the opinions of anyone other than those she respected, and exhibited a contagious confidence that was magnified ten times when she was on stage, a presence of that demanded respect without saying, and a heart that was strong as well as open to an audience that captured her image in their minds with mystery and intrigue that transcended her work. I still see that spirit within her and I don't know what or why anyone would try to contain or dampen it when it breathed so much life in the pop world and entertainment in general.  Good points  I don't understand why she's now so upset when it comes to criticism. She was really open about it a few years ago, and was happy when she had the chance to have a real discussion about what people think of her and her artistry.  I hope some of you will be able to understand this interview, it's really interesting to see how much her opinions on critics and criticism have changed.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kj56dRFCd5Y https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NnUfSnrV2U

I still see that spirit within her and I don't know what or why anyone would try to contain or dampen it when it breathed so much life in the pop world and entertainment in general. I believe it's because of how much backlash she's received since 2011. The balance shifted enormously and she hasn't been getting the praise that she used to get to outweigh the criticisms. I can understand why it would get to her and make her insecure (which she clearly was this whole past year). Obviously the confident, fearless Gaga is much better and preferable, but her confidence had to break at some point. You can't be such a fearless, out-there artist like that for 6 years straight and not eventually buckle. Â The good news is I'm sure she'll be back as strong and confident as she used to be with the next era.

The good news is I'm sure she'll be back as strong and confident as she used to be with the next era. It goes without saying that we recognize her humanity as with anyone and I understand with massive criticism she gets, it can be daunting to tune those out, especially when she gets it from her label or from her own (self proclaimed) fans. She just seemed tough as nails and with her spreading her message of bravery, you'd thing she would enjoy her imagitive world beyond what could be perceived by public or critics. She never hid or ran anywhere as I remember, but rode straight through the eye of the storm, proving her critics wrong, again and again. She dared to go places many in the industry never ventured in fashion or subject matter and now you see many artists dip into those concepts. But like you said, she definitely has it within her to dare to be dangerous again. Those who love her will love her no matter what she does, and with the resources she has now, the sky is the limit or maybe beyond since she'll be doing that space act. Silence those demons... . 🖤

I want her to be happy and I envy her bravery in many ways. It just saddens me when she says she isn't appreciated enough in the Western world. pachinko 9,523
Let's all just move to Japan with Gaga.
lucia4 0
This is really sweet but just as a reminder to everyone: the Japanese heavily judge their local artists based on personality as opposed to their work and music. It's just like in the US, but they don't do it so much to foreign artists.
VforVendetta 2,024
Well ARTPOP was still far from a failure in the U.S and spawned more hits in the U.S than in Japan... But the U.S, and many other places like the U.K and Australia have pretty nasty people in the media so I guess from a media standpoint, Japan understands her more. This is what she means.
