Gaga replies to a tweet about her weight

I have seen both sides of the coin. I used to be really overweight, and hated it, so educated myself and worked hard and lost it - too much. I was underweight and looked sick. But at the same time, I felt pretty great (I trained like a marathon runner) - and for people like that, there's a resentment of people who risk feeling that unhappy by not taking care of their bodies. It's a slippery slope to unhappiness.

That being said, I think promoting health is more paramount than promoting 'being happy with your body' because it's that kind of attitude that can lead to people piling on the pounds or getting really underweight just because they're told to be happy with their body. Don't be happy - work hard and be perfect ;)

Nah, I'm joking... mostly. But really... health over happiness. Happiness comes with health anyway, so chill.

But it's easy enough to tell someone to "be healthy", it's not always the easiest thing for someone to do though. Yes, promoting being healthy is a good thing, and I feel that Gagz is healthy. It's not like she's waddling around the stage or something.

Everyone is so over the top here! OMG

I think that Gaga should do what ever pleases her, but still I think she should take better care of herself.

I dunno, I've seen her lately with dirty teeth, and she should take care of her hair a LOT MORE. She keeps

wearing wigs and hair extensions and weaves that have damage her hair big time. Like her hairline OMG.

And also with those tapes she uses on her face are no good for her skin. The same goes with her weight...

All that is the opposite of what she is defending which is being healthy, sorry.

She is just 28!! We only have this body, and I think that we need to take care of it, but that's just my opinion.

Still love her.

What about her hairline? If you're on about that pic in the Daily Mail, then it was clear that it was just the light shining on the gel or whatever product she had in her hair, making it seem to disappear. They even posted pics after that where you can see her hair line is normal. Dirty teeth? When? Her weight is fine - that is the point here. She's not fat. She IS a healthy weight.

I'd say regular fluctuations in weight (as substantial as her fluctuations are) isn't healthy - and doctors would agree. She can't be working out that much either, because she's void of muscle tone anywhere but her thighs. It doesn't add up.

I'm coming across as very judgmental, but I care about her wellbeing and don't think it's being managed correctly.

Probably due to her pasta addiction #WeAreAllStupidItalians

But the point is, it's her life. No, I don't want her to get sick or whatever either, but it's her life. It's her choice, and who are we to judge? I mean I'd love it if she stopped with the d--gs/ciggies/so much alcohol, but I realise it's her life and she can do what she wants with it. We may not like it, but it'd not up to us to tell her (or anyone else) what to do with their lives.

I understand you are coming from a caring/worried (for her) place, and I take more issue with the people who just come in and rant about how fat she is. At least you give some thought to your posts.

Thing is, who are we? We're the ones that fund her lifestyle. She needs to not bite the hand that feeds her (so to speak).

Why do so many people on here seem to think Gaga is overweight? She looks like a normal woman and I guarantee you she is in better shape than 75% of other women her age. How could she pull off her intense shows if she was out of shape? She would have a heart attack right on stage or be fainting. Who are you comparing her to? Models? Teenagers? Other pop stars who are either starving themselves or who are naturally thin or naturally muscular?

It's like in your minds a person can either be skinny or fat. There is a huge healthy range in between those two (about a 30 pound range). Most people are not defined and have a soft looking appearance. It's normal and natural and it doesn't mean they are out of shape or unhealthy.

Yes, I guess you are right, who are we to judge. And she does look beautiful anyway! I just wanted to make a point about her saying what is healthy and then drinking, smoking and not taking that much care of herself overall.  :)

Does that give us a right to judge her weight? I don't think it does. My boss/company funds my lifestyle (so to speak - they pay my wages), would it then be Ok for them to turn around and tell me I am fat and need to lose weight? Of course not. I could probably try to sue them. :dies:

I doubt they pay you to do anything physically demanding.

Gaga dances. She decided to do this. Its now unfortunately as much a part of her product as her voice. If her voice started going all britney then thats the same.

If you were a marathon runner and looked like queen latifah, hell yes id say you need to get in better shape.

Then it's really ****ing fantastic that no one cares how you'd "rather see her". Her being a pop performer doesn't mean her body is suddenly public property; she shouldn't have to justify why she looks the way she does to anyone, especially not to people who claim to be fans. I'm sick of this mentality that places more importance on success to a mainstream audience than Gaga's mental and physical health. It's just immature.

PREACH :applause:

That doesn't give you a right to decide what she should do with her body. It doesn't give you a right to decide on tattoos, piercings, her weight, her exercise routines, her hair color...

You don't own her, because you buy an album or pay to see a concert. :fail: You got music and you got a concert- that's what you paid for and that's what you received.

So what? It was an example. My friend does a somewhat physically demanding job. He's not a stick by any means. As long as he does his job then his boss can't turn around and tell him to lose weight. In fact even if he doesn't do his job, his boss can't turn around and tell him to lose weight. He can get fired for doing a bad job, but it's not up to his boss to tell him what to do with his body. Gaga is doing her job. She's singing, she's performing. If we feel she is not doing her job because of her weight, then we can stop buying tickets to her show, or stop buying her albums. It still doesn't give us the right to tell her what to do with her own body.

You keep on saying stuff about bigger people as if Gaga was that big. She is in the normal range. She is not fat.  And you know what, if someone the size of Queen Latifah was running a marathon I'd say all power to them for giving it a go, and how do you know they weren't trying to get in shape by doing that, and doing training for that? Why are we so quick to judge other people, when it affects us in no way?

Who are you to think you can decide what is the best for another person? Gaga is doing what is best for her mentally and physically to survive a worldwide tour...

Exactly, the mental aspect. Yes she can choose to exercise for hours a day, eat nothing but healty stuff and not drink and she will look toned and skinny like she has in the past.

BUT she just doesn't want too anymore. She obviously wants to enjoy life more and her old regime clearly wasn't making her happy. I can imagine it's extra tough if you are as busy as her, working hard all the time, you want to enjoy things too. Don't forget she's had weight issues since her teens. I think it's admirable, especially with the world watching and demanding her to fit the mold, she's trying to accept her body.

You can tell it's an ongoing procces because she's choosing very flattering pics when she talks about her curves, and blames her periods, but give the girl some time. In a while she'll be like, yeah I got some juicy rolls to cover my muscles, and they are mighty fine!

I believe Taylor has played a big part in this. He loves her curves. He helped her embrace her body. I think it's a beautiful thing and it makes me hopefull she'll one day concur her issues with alcohol and d--gs as well.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch
