Salvador Dali 0
Why do people keep insisting that Venus wouldn't have met great reception when trash like What Does The Fox Say smashed?
Desperado 2,439
Did anyone want G.U.Y. over Venus? I haven't seen anyone say that everyone.
JudasIsAHolyFoo 3,278
Gaga wanted this as the first single. She wanted Aura as the first single, thats why it leaked early because her record label said Applause was going to be the first single, what are you even talking about. Guest
But let's also not forget what kind of a French House jam it could have been if it would have been released earlier. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwCsdCA04ns Mariano - Sexxx Dreams ft. Gagaunderyou could smash .. I think DWUW was the masterpiece of ARTPOP (along with Gypsy) and it was missmanaged so... Although if anyone here remembers. I was the biggest stan of Sex Dreams, but the studio version kind of dissapointed me.. The synths were non existent, and those backvocals This version could've easily been one of Gaga's biggest hits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwCsdCA04ns Halleloo, baby. FRANK1991 3,329
Koala, on 10 Aug 2014 - 11:47, said: I love the song but it would have done bad imo. The clean version is lame and the song, despite being amazing, is not something the radio would eat Cause once you let it go you better know it's gone
JudasIsAHolyFoo 3,278
Aura would have flopped hard in the US. If you haven't noticed, the US does not feel very welcoming to arabic culture and everyone over here would probably be like "this is weird muslim music turn it off". If you need any proof, watch this video that was posted yesterday on TYT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2VliQnFHRU&list=UU1yBKRuGpC1tSM73A0ZjYjQ But the controversy it would have striked, like Judas, people would be all over her like flies on crap, and Gaga would have had more news reports than she did for Applause, G.U.Y., and DWUW, to me Aura would have been really successful, not to mention the beat, and remember how Gaga was always in the news when Judas came out cause it was controversial! and why do you think she mashes up Judas and Aura at artRAVE? Tanner 810
Its probably been said before in the thread but Gaga did say it was between Sexxx Dreams & Applause for the lead. Idk why she would want s-xxx dreams though, the radio edit would kill the song and idk if the GP is ready for a song like that yet. I still say Venus would've been a good second single, even the lead.

Actually, s-xxx dreams and applause were the two contenders for the lead. She said it herself in a radio interview, during the Applause era I think. I'll try to find it but yeah

Shes now been saying to fans backstage that Aura was to be the lead single, TBH Gaga doesn't know how to make up her mind lol, an example of this is when she was doing the ARTPOP tracklist she said it was either Mary Jane Holland, or Brooklyn Nights Monster Ball 2010, Monster Ball 2011, Born This Way Ball 2013, artRAVE 2014, Joanne World Tour 2017 (Both Nights in Toronto)
Skylight 911
That would be the dumbest idea ever This fan base always picks the worst singles.... Y'all wanted GUY over Venus, you should be ashamed. The GP is NOOOTTTT ready for a racy single (especially not one about BOTTOMING LIKE HOLY SH*T WHAT WERE YOU GUYS THINKING?!?!) from Lady Gaga at least. The radio edit would have been a massacre too. Sexxx Dreams nor GUY are/were single worthy. that is not to say that they aren't GREAT songs!!!

XoXoJoanneGaga 629
It wouldn't have done very well. But I wish it was released earlier so she wouldn't have had time to overproduce it - maybe a promo single?
Michael 533
Tell me this, WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE SONG?!?!?! That GP might be dumb enough to fall for Katy Perry but do you REALLY think the wouldn't connect two and two when singing "I wanna be that girl under you!!!!!!" Hell, everybody knew what Poker Face was about when that song was at its peak and that message was actually hidden. the delusion in some Gaga fans is too much :nooo: Lol why are you so angry? And the fact still stands, the GP wouldn't disect the song's meaning and hang on to every word she is saying. If they were to think of the meaning, they wouldn't probably just think that it's about control and gender dynamics in a relationship. And no the GP, (and we are talking the general public, don't get them confused with people on forums or blogs or the media), don't know that Poker Face is about bis-xuality because the majority of them don't care. If a song is catchy then they like it. And need I remind you, songs about s-xuality is hardly a taboo thing. There have been countless #1 songs that have been about explicit s-x, much more explicit and risque than G.U.Y. was. "Lollipop" by Lil Wayne was about blowjobs and that went #1 "3" by Britney Spears was about threesomes and that went #1 Do I even need to bring up Blurred Lines? or Get Lucky??? Both the biggest songs of last year. The argument that G.U.Y.'s subject matter made it commercially unviable is completley and utterly invalid and the biggest reach known to man to find an excuse as to why it flopped.
