They are the stepping stones to a greater device, and usually don't have a long shelf life. Also, they rarely add a ton of new features. Pretty much all the 5S has over the 5 was a fancy lock (fingerprint scanner) So my dad will probably get me either 4 or 5 for my birthday then They're good right? I have the 5 and its great! :) If you have a choice, get the latest model, but if you don't get the 5C. The 4 and 4S are outdated and will be discontinued soon! The 5S has a fingerprint scanner, but its really not even that useful, just a parlor trick really. The 5S is faster/better memory and processing wise, but not enough to do you much good. The 5S is 64bit while the 5C and all previous iphones are 32bit. Now, from 5S to 6, I can't say. The 6 only has leaked images, we know nothing about what it can/will do yet, so if history serves us well, the 6 will be leagues above the 5C but not too far ahead of the 5S. Basiclly, if you can afford a 5S, get it. But if you can't afford it, the 5C is cheaper and you aren't missing out on much.
