Dayman 6,251
Yea. Hopefully the 90 days is effective enough to slow or stop its spread.. it probably won't be. It's filthy there, while Ebola is survivable the medical infrastructure just is not there for it. The major reason for it spreading from person to person is from people trying to take care of family members instead of bringing them to a clinic - but the clinics aren't any better either. There is one doctor and on nurse for about every 40 patients. Thy work 24/7 so even fully covered in hazard suits they stand the very strong chance of contracting the disease. If there was the kind of medical care in Africa that there is in the USA than this outbreak would've been over by now - but at this scale with those conditions, not much good can be happening from here on out. Tommymonster44 0
Is this going to be another swine flu deal where the whole world freaks out for months and then suddenly we don't hear about it again like it never existed? If Ebola gains traction outside of Africa, there is the very real possibility of having a health catastrophe as big as the black plague. Swine Flu is to Ebola as a nerf gun is to a nuclear bomb. There is no cure and no vaccination, even though we have been looking for one for decades. The virus kills 90% of the people it infects. There have been micro breakouts of the virus around Sudan since the 1980's, but for whatever reason, it has never gained widespread traction. The reason we are getting so much updates on the spread of the virus is because the CDC has dealt with Ebola before, and they are probably scared and doing everything possible to stop it. Whispering 18,865
Why do ppl keep going there anyway :s Medical volunteers and members of the Peace Corps were over there when the virus broke out. What do you want them to do? Stay in West Africa and not come back to their lives as US citizens?
