MahoganySnitch 67
It's OK to be concerned, but please don't be like some people and send actual death threats to the medical professionals, which is apparently happening. People like Donald Trump aren't helping either. They are doing their job, so let them do it.
Mast 980
Is this going to be another swine flu deal where the whole world freaks out for months and then suddenly we don't hear about it again like it never existed? Basically. And like the swine flu, it's gonna go out of hand and people are gonna believe everyone has it when literally no one has it. I don't think Ebola cares whether the country has better hygiene. When something is contagious it does not distinguish between countries. With world travel the way it is, everybody is vulnerable. You only hear what the media tells you and don't think that they tell you everything. There is always the potential for different strains of viruses to surface as well. Yes, but do you understand how hard it is to get Ebola. The virus has not evolved in the past 50 years, there is no reason for it to do so now. Better hygiene does not mean the disease will not spread at all. It just means it's less likely to. The contagion doesn't willingly distinguish; it flourishes where it can thrive. Hence poorer conditions means more flourishing. Edited August 6, 2014 by MahoganySnitch

Just because it was, it doesn't clear the future for other potential threats. Mars..........or bust!
Mast 980
You can die from Ebola though But you're acting like no one got the swine flu. I'm pretty sure many people did and I know it was terrible because I had it, which it makes sense why some people were freaking out about dying from that. I had literally no energy, I puked up everything so I was really hungry and dehydrated but Ebola is much worse. Studies have shown that H1N1 had no more effect on the population than regular seasonal flu already does. In other words, it wasn't much of a pandemic, just a new strain of the flu. You looking at history and not the future. Just because it was, it doesn't clear the future for other potential threats. It's not going to mutate overnight either. Once again, I don't think you understand how hard it is to get it, and how vulnerable the virus is. You need to stop being paranoid about it; it's not gonna spread past Western Africa. It is most like to flourish in poorer conditions, I agree. Mars..........or bust!

I am glad we have an expert in the house. You know what the media will tell you only. I'm not paranoid about this and don't give a hoot but if you think there is NO threat and this will be contained then why are they testing people? Mars..........or bust! Because the last thing you want is someone with Ebola running around freely. They're only testing people who complain about having common flu-like symptoms. People are coming to them; they're not searching everyone who just came back from Africa. Also, I don't know just what the media tells me. I don't read that crap. I know what I know from my sister who is a professional working with the fever and through research. Working with people who are willing to be tested is also great to fine-tune or recognition of the virus, and, you know, finding an approved treatment for it since there is none, so no **** they're gonna want to test these people. Are you trying to imply I don't know how viruses work? I know how bad they are ONCE YOU GET THEM, as we virtually have no cure for any viruses we have encountered, but they're not something you should fear when you know how vulnerable they are outside a host and basic hygiene. It doesn't take a genius to put two and two together and realize that the CDC is not dicking around and they actually want to quarantine the virus as soon as possible.
