Here's an idea, how about 19 year old lady gaga fans stop telling experts the best way to do their jobs. The people handling this outbreak have decades of education and experience. I would imagine that large metropolitan areas have the top hospitals, infrastructure, and doctors to treat the patients. There's quarantine procedures that will be followed. The sanitation here is miles better than in Africa, so things like ebola don't spread nearly as easily. This isn't as big of a concern as the people in this thread is making it out to be. So they don't die. They don't have the ability to treat ebola correctly in Africa, that's why it's such a problem. Think of it this way: if it were you or a family member who had it, wouldn't you want them to have the best care possible? The patient is in a quarantined environment. He isn't wandering the streets of New York *not sure if I am confusing Ebola with Rabies but...* Last I checked there isn't a vaccine/cure for Ebola. It has a 50%-90% fatality rate. It has a 50%-90% fatality rate. I feel like we are still in danger. True. Regardless, there's no way it could spread here the way it does in Africa. Our sanitation systems are leagues above theirs. The virus isn't outrageously transmissible anyways. Ebola is very dangerous, but in the US there's a much better chance of treating it and stopping its spread. They're working on possible treatments. We're fine. This patient is quarantined and can't spread anything. Plus, it isn't even confirmed that he has it. He could just have the flu. It just bothers me that people think that if they live in a 100 mile radius of New York that they're going to get ebola and die. They do realize that doctors who were gowned up still caught it... You are right, but you also have to remember that the US is a first world country and far more capable of being able to treat this person if he has ebola. Most countries that have had cases of infected people are very poor countries where proper hygiene and care aren't at the standard that they are in the US. The conditions are a lot better.
