It seems like our family will be rather separated a lot this season, but I imagine that they will all come back together later. This episode was a good showing of a new place with it's new personalities. King Ezekiel is great. I already like him and his community. I do feel like it's a perfect place for Morgan, in particular.

I agree that I can see Morgan thriving here.  He seems happy for the first time in a long time.  I like these new characters and especially Ezekiel.  I actually chuckled during that episode.  I don't think that's ever happened with this series.   I really feel bad for the other group now.  They are in Hell while Carol and Morgan are seemingly in Heaven.  I thought Carol was going to leave leave, but I guess she didn't want to go far.

I haven't posted in this thread for a while since, honestly, season 6 really disappointed me with the direction it went in. I'm a big fan of the comics, and it made me sad to see two of my favourite comic moments have their impact sacrificed for the sake of ratings and split into cliffhangers (No Way Out/Jessie chop-chop, and Negan's introduction). It's frustrating to see the show be so similar to the comic storyline, but change some things for the worse.

That said, despite the obvious ratings grab with the S6 cliffhanger, the actual deaths were executed pretty well. Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays Negan perfectly. He's not too over the top with the character, but he has the charm and likability that makes Negan such a compelling villain. He's absolutely evil, but it's hard to *really* hate him.

This week's episode was fine. I like Carol, and I like Morgan, although I didn't like them TOGETHER until their last episode in S6. It just seemed like the actors didn't have a lot of chemistry before that point, but now they're fine and carried the episode well. I really want to know where Morgan's heading as a character. He's very much questioning his (rather silly) mantra.

Am I the only one who thinks King Ezekiel is really similar to Gaga? :ladyhaha:

The nickname, the larger than life personality, the costume, the sassyness, and the whole "my people need fantasy to survive because reality is too difficult sometimes" shtick... :laughga:

Instant new favorite character.

:giggle: I think Gaga would appreciate this.

Did you all know that there was serious talk before casting that Jon Hamm was up to accepting the part to play Negan? There  are many links online about it. I really think that Jeffrey Dean Morgan is perfect as Negan, but I am a fan of Jon Hamm of Mad Men fame and just wonder how well he would have portrayed Negan and even if I could forget him as Don Draper as I watched him on The Walking Dead. I just find this interesting. I would hope that Jon Hamm could be as versatile in his acting.

There are some images as well:

What do you think about it @Ambrosia ? I know that you are a fan as well. Can you even imagine this?

No!!  Not my Don Draper.  I'd either A) Wait for his iconic quotes to the Saviors giving them inspiration to kill or B) Watch Mad Men someday again and wait for Don to take out a bat and hit Pete Campbell over the head.  I just don't think so!  I'm glad things worked out as they did.  I'd never before seen JDM in anything, so for me, he's ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL  Negan!!  :toofunny:

Interesting connection! It's like if Gaga were to survive the zombie apocalypse.

..

I liked this new character too, hope he doesn't die too soon.

This past episode was highly entertaining and cheeky. I believe that this Sunday's episode will be solid too, plus it will be great that it will be an extended episode. I can't wait to check in with our Alexandrians.

"I'd rather die than live for one more day under his rule."  2016 election??  :toofunny:

I was very impressed with the beginning sandwich montage.  They captured all the human pain and suffering that went into just one tasty sandwich.

I think that Sherry and Dwight are both ripe to leave.  I think they will at least aid in Daryl's escape if they can't get away themselves.  I learned a lot about Dwight and I don't dislike him as much as I did before.

I kind of want the Alexandrians, Dwight/Sherry, and Ezekiel's people to all band together and just head north or west.  But then we wouldn't have a show.

I found no compelling reason why that episode was longer.  Negan wears me out.

It seemed longer for all of the commercials that they had to fit in.  Seven to ten minutes of show, oh look, it's a commercial break. ehhh :creepflop:. It was a good episode. Next week looks to be a bit boring unless the story telling is really great and makes the story progress in a big way. We have eight episodes before a break and they are coming down fast.....

At least we'll see our grrrls though.

Jesus looks like he goes to a salon for a blow out every day of his living :giggle:

For a bad guy, Negan sure smiles a lot. The only other villain I know that smiled that much is "The Joker". He had no choice, his face was painted on. :hmm:

Maggie and Sasha's friendship:giveup:

also Rick and Michonne:wub:

The girls are owning this season, besides Negan.

I was so happy to see Jesus again!  He was holding his own with the ladies.

I could get lost in those eyes forever.

He's such a bad-ass; maybe more so than even Daryl if they'd give him more screen time.

I have enjoyed every episode so far of this season.

Spoiler

I have seen praise all over for Jesus, from all ladies and even some guys. It looks like he is sticking around too, so Lucky for all admirers, at that. He was very good with everyone during this episode. They have a great team actually, Jesus, Sasha and Megan, all together. Especially the scene, his look at the end with Carl, lol. That is pretty exciting! I wouldn't dare. They have no idea what they are heading into and have a great chance at being caught. I am up for seeing it though. Rick is so going to be pissed.

Everybody needs a little Jesus in their life.  I am looking for an episode with Morgan, Ezekiel, Jesus, and Daryl altogether, kicking some butt.

I will wait patiently for that day.  :nails:
