One of her best but I will always stand by Born This Way. I'd put ARTPOP after BTW tho.

No. For me it's actually second last only better than born this way.

I think that there was a reason why she was holding the release for so long - I believe that she is not as happy with the album as with the past ones. Many of the songs that she was hyping us about are not even included. Also songs on the album are just not making a piece like in past albums. To me ARTPOP sounds like mixtape, it is fun but it has no strong message behind it, no crazy passion and stuff.

However the production dramatically improved comparing to born this way - Aura, Sexxx Dreams, DWUW and MJH are just jewels in that term to me.

No. It's not a bad album by any means, but ARTPOP is the first Gaga album (at least, in my opinion), that is not better than the last. The concept and themes seem to get lost, and the album for the most part comes across as just a compilation of tunes with very little relation to each other. Some might appreciate this, but I feel that as a piece of art this makes it feel quite incomplete.

The music sometimes feels a bit forced, too. Aside from notable exceptions like ARTPOP and Venus, The Fame, The Fame Monster and Born This Way came across as much more passionate and genuine, as though Gaga truly believed in these albums.

I love ARTPOP so much, but BTW blows it out of the water. Btw is such a dark and grimey album, but some songs on ARTPOP sound quiet dry. Swine is one of my favourites, however, the album version is quiet flat.

Btw has

Bloody Mary

You and I

The Edge of Glory

Governemnt Hooker

Marry the Night

The Queen

Heavy Metal Lover

These songs are just perfect and some of the best that Gaga has ever made.

ARTPOP has

Mary Jane Holland

Applause

Aura

Dope

These songs are great too, however they just aren't as epic as the best songs from btw.

ARTPOP comes in second for me.

1. OK, it seems like we will never agree with this one. I just don't get how anything is the same as nothing

2. No is not because it fits perfectly with the rest of the song.

3. In that case, does Aura sound like any other era?

4. Well, depending on how you respond to my questions that is how I am going to respond too.

5. And your trying to convince me that this is a mediocre album. I understand that you don't think that this is her best album, but I just don't agree with you in that the album is mediocre.

1. Because it's not a theme :rip: if she decided to go abstract, that's a theme but she hasn't, it's just random pop music thrown on an album.

2. Oh dear :rip:

3. Why are you picking out random tracks when I said the album is dated it's self. Aura is fresh (despite the horrific watering down it faced from the demo) but the album as a whole is dated.

4. That makes no sense but ok :ARTPOP:

5. I'm not trying to convince you, you made a thread asking if ARTPOP is Gaga's best album and for reasons, I answered with my reasons as to why for me it's not. The album is mediocre, in fact it's pretty bad. If I wasn't a gaga fan already, I would probably dislike it.

I think a lot of people don't give the music on ARTPOP enough credit. It's a great album with some of her best songs. However, Born This Way is my personal favorite.

I think it is, it's at least neck-and-neck with Born This Way. It might not be as sonically groundbreaking as BTW was, but I think the composition and the album itself are pure Gaga. BTW had a one-time only aesthetic of Springsteen, Houston, and Justice (amongst others) that worked beautifully for one album, but cannot be done again, lest she risk repeating herself.

But with ARTPOP, Gaga takes those myriad elements that make her such a unique presence in the pop scene (indelible hooks, eccentric genre mash-ups, s-xy and impressive vocals, meticulously layered production) and kicks it up a notch or three by showing admirable restraint in not making each track so self-consciously "hooky" and allowing the melodies, particularly in the verses, to breathe a bit and take time to form. She imbues the entire album with a sound that is both sci-fi futuristic and endearingly retro (another calling card of hers). The songs are airtight, deceptively simple, and they don't meander or overstay their welcome. The themes of ownership and artistic freedom might be one that she has touched on before, but not with this much clarity or honesty. This isn't about Gaga singing about a fame that she has yet to achieve, or the fears she's encountered on the way up. And it's not about Gaga singing to us about us. It's about Gaga singing to us about Gaga.

Yes. I literally cannot comprehend how people can bash this musical masterpiece. Every second of the 59 minutes that make up this album are perfect. There are NO bad songs; in fact, there are no songs that are less than great. ARTPOP is the best album ever made imo. I could listen to it nonstop for the rest of my life not even kidding.

No. BTW was better.

It's a LOT better than The Fame.... It's hard to compare it to TFM because it was so short..

In terms of production and vocals, it is her most diverse yet.  Lyrically, it might actually be one of her weakest . For the most part the songs are either too literal or simple or straight up weird and un-relateable. Gaga was her most compelling lyrically when she took these kinds of simple relateable concepts, and hid a clever, possiblly more sinister meaning behind them just to keep us on our toes i.e Paparazzi, Poker Face, Alejandro,  Bad Romance etc. If anyone doesn't believe me you obviously werent around in the TFM days when people used to obsess about her song meanings. Now no1 really cares because lets be real, their aint really that much for us to sink our teeth into...

No. Born This Way is. Lyric-wise, vocal-wise, production-wise, branding-wise, and even promotion-wise, BTW as a whole easily comes off as her strongest album to date. It wasn't just a mere collection of songs, it's an album with a clear and cohesive message, which AP lacks. Whether it's through the songs, the tour, or even her non-music-related endeavours such as her own youth empowerment foundation - it's crystal clear what she wanted to say and share. The delivery of her message was effective. And effectiveness is what makes something the "best" in whatever one does.

This! Exactly everything you said!
