A fact about BTW and ARTPOP

Yeah, exactly how I feel about Born This Way. After listening to it I feel overwhelmed, whereas with ARTPOP it's the opposite. I feel lighter, it takes all the pressure off.

Despite these differences I absolutely love both BTW & ARTPOP. They are far superior to her earlier work on The Fame/Monster and of course both of them are quite risky. And that's why I think here some people were put off by BTW and now the same thing happened with AP. But this is actually what made me fall in love with Gaga - her ever changing approach to pop music.

She takes a particular genre, reworks it so that it stays within the pop frame and the final result is a masterpiece that's hard to be matched by other artists. Born This Way as much as it is a dance record has that retro/rock vibe to it that just takes you several decades back while listening. And ARTPOP - it's undoubtedly the best electronic album of its kind - just look at recent releases from the same genre (Britney Jean... WTF?! so boring, predictable & generic!). Please don't tell me ARTPOP is generic because it's not. The music on it matches and even surpasses the one from some of the most famous DJs out there. When I listen to the instrumentals it's a whole new experience - rich & diverse. And when you add the vocals of Gaga we get an album that no other DJ was able to produce with 10+ featured artists on his record...

She is not afraid to take risks and successfully delivers. A proof of this success is that both albums divided the fanbase and caused controversy. I mean with BTW & AP it's either hit or miss. Some people love it, some hate it. And this allows Gaga to add new people to the fanbase ( e.g. I am an ARTPOP monster... :ohwell: ).

So yeah, let's enjoy her music & talent. I will be here for her as long as she continues to innovate and not be afraid to take risks. I don't want her to become a slave to the radio and create music that would be easy to like and praise just for the sake of it. Not following the rules is what made her what she is after all. :queenga:

O M G. :omg:

This so much! Slay! :applause:

Yeah i agree with the BTW one, i remember listening to it the first time just skipping through songs and being disappointed. Later as i got sometime to myself, i listened to the album in serenity with my full attention focused on the music and only then i realised how intricate the sounds were.

Personally i don't find that with ARTPOP though, barring the complex songs like Aura, the rest are pretty easy to listen to.

They are easier to listen to but not in a way that you can listen to the songs of TF for example. You need your attention on the album alone. You need to listen to the music just to listen to the music. It doesn't work any other way.

I agree with Born This Way, there's so much going on and it's so loud you do need to give it more attention than a lot of music in a really good way.

ARTPOP is pretty easy listening though bar a few tracks (Aura, Venus and Dope)

EDIT - Isn't ARTPOP meant to be easily approachable and listenable though? It's a "party" album.

It doesn't have anything to do with being a party album though. ARTPOP is a very dance album that still needs your attention to the music. All songs have complex instrumentals and lyrics. It's not the album that you will listen when you want to relax or just dance.

That's something I miss from The Fame and TFM. Songs that you can just listen to while chilling.

I must admit that I miss that as well. I am a bigger fan of BTW and ARTPOP but for the next album I want a tyoe if music that is less hardcore dance and noisy. Something that is more approachable while not being less sophisticated.

Not biting back, I gave you a list of the songs that are pretty complex and draw in your attention.

What else breaks away from other music norms on the album then?

Aura and Venus both combine what could be multiple songs to make their own and Dope is so raw and unpolished (in a good way) it literally drags you by the ears to listen.

Aura, Venus, Sexxx Dreams,  ARTPOP, Swine, Fashion!, MJH, Dope. All these songs need your full attention either because o f lyrics or because of instrumentals and loudness.

Agreed on Aura, Venus and Dope. All the other songs you listed are good but none are ear catching.

In the way that you put it now, then half of BTW is not ear catching as well. I am talking about songs that you need to put a lot of efford to fully understand them, not songs that draw your attention themselves. I agree, there are songs like that as well in both albums and more in BTW but this doesn't make the rule. I am talking about how you need to put full attention to them , not how they draw your attention. (now idk if you got what I mean).

Born This Way sounds completely different to what you hear on the radio and generally in music, when it was released and still to this day. ARTPOP is not, it's mainly EDM that sounds like it already exists, and some of the instrumentals literally do. :sharon:

I understand what you mean, I just don't agree with you

The fact that ARTPOP is EDM doesn't mean that it is similat with what you listne on Radio! ARTPOP is like nothing else on radio regrdles sof the fact that it's EDM.  :dies: I dare you to find some examples.

All the songs sound like they could just be thrown on the radio :sharon:

Here's one that jumps straight to mind in terms of similarities. Do What U Want and -

I  agree with you concerning ARTPOP, but Born this Way -for me- is an excellent backround album. Its rock audio aisthetic makes it perfect for this.

DWUW is not even like the rest of ARTPOP, it's arguably RnB of the last decade I agree. Don't compare this song though, compare the song sthta make the skeleton of the album.
