A fact about BTW and ARTPOP

To begin with, BTW and ARTPOP are my favorite Lady Gaga albums. As I was listening ARTPOP yesterday I realised an intersting fact about the album and I have realised the same think about BTW as well. It's a fact that alone is neither positive nor negative but I also think that it made the albums less commercial. Both albums are extremely complex, loud, dance albums which makes them very difficult to listen to if you don't have your full attention on them-not doing anything else, if you don't have the right mood, if you can't listen them loud and with good speakers and it makes it also more difficult to listen them with others. For example always, when I try to read a book or do something that needs concentration while listening to them I end up either unable to focus or I end up ignoring either the book-other thing or the music. Also when I put the music at home and there are also other people that do other things and they are not also concentrated to the music they end up complain that the music is too noisy and they have a headache. Finally if you don't have good quality speakers the electronic music doesn't sound that good. This is something that wasn't the case with TF-TFM and I think that it's something that made the albums more commercially friendly as well. What do you think about this idea? (keep it kind)

Yeah, they're both complex albums and require full attention. I can still play them in the background but I can't help but sing along  That happens with all Gaga songs for me though

artRAVE is a more electronic, slightly ravey and psychedelic vibe while BTW is rock inspired.

I also sing along with all Gaga albums but with BTW-ARTPOP mainly I end up focusing on the lyrics or the instrumentals of the songs alone and I am unable to do anything else when I listen to them. It also happens with some songs on TF-TFM as well but not with the biggest parts of the albums.

I think it's true, and it only shows how Gaga has grown as an artist and musician :legend:

btw I can't read books with any type of music, it distracts me no matter what song is on :emma:

Well, I consider ARTPOP as Gaga's most "commercial" album... But I'm a flop fan so my opinion doesn't matter :derpga:

Don't say such things about yourself. (Even though if you believe that then you truly are a flop fan. :derpga:)

Well I guess I'm unique because I can play videogames and listen to ARTPOP at the same time.

I've said that about BTW in particular since day 1 (and this was one of my first remarks about it): that album is EXHAUSTING. I remember myself having a hard time listening to it from A to Z at the beginning, because it just drained me from all energy. This album just never stops, it's just great song after great song... and it's so rare to have albums that are basically packed with singles-worthy songs only. There's no break. There isn't one moment that feels uninspired. And it really is a noisy record as a whole - that's why I often say Gaga is to pop what metal is to rock. She's the heavy side of pop. Even though it's a pop album, BTW is as draining as a metal record.

It's also for all these reasons that, to me, it's my favorite album of all time.

I agree, I've always thought BTW was the loudest/noisiest album, but ARTPOP is loud too, just in a different way. I feel like these two albums were put together as entire pieces. She's said that ARTPOP is meant to be played start to finish, but I feel as if she put BTW together in the same way. They both flow very well. That may have something to do with it too...if someone just listens to one part of the work, they don't understand it or get the entire experience. I feel like that's more of the case with ARTPOP than with BTW, but I think it still applies to both.

TF and TFM don't feel like they were put together the same way. TF is obviously a bit front-loaded because it was her debut, and even though every song on TFM is flawless, I feel like the order doesn't matter and there wasn't as much thought put into the way it flows like with BTW and ARTPOP.

I think a lot of what you said is true for most music.

I do think BTW is kind of difficult to listen to because of it's heaviness though. I don't feel that way about ARTPOP, but I can see where you're coming from.

I agree, they're hardly easy-listening albums but that's kind of the point. They have a loud, in your face message and aesthetic and that's reflected well in the music. This is why I love both the albums - Born This Way a lot more, though.
