Imagine if Gaga released an unexpected album?

It will be reductive and also I think it's just a bad idea for any artist.  Singles and promo are there for a reason, they build hype and it's part of the whole album experience.  Beyonce shot her wad all over iTunes on day one, and none of the singles have done well since the album release.

Agreed, don't use my own quotes against me, honey. It doesn't change the fact that Beyonce ''smash'' didn't have a single and will struggle to double the sales of the ''flop'' ARTPOP.

It had 4 singles, including one that reached #2. And iirc, Beyonce sold 3M worlwide which is more than ARTPOP.

The fact that her child is considered promo for her makes me even less interested in her.

No, it's not considered promo but the fact that she had a child had a huge impact on the gp

3 flop singles and a moderat hit. The fact that it reached 2 because of streaming doesn't change the fact that the song hasn't even reached double platinum in the US and let's not even talk about WW. And yes, BEyonce sold more than ARTPOP. Her Era was far from the Successs that the media and many here so blindly believe though.

No she isn't but whatever. I'm done arguing with pressed Gaga stans that can't see further than her.

3 "flop" singles that had a huge impact socially and got nominated for a total of 8 VMAs. Then there is the possibility for Grammy nominations but that's for another time. As for DIL, what if she reached 2 because of streaming? BTW reached 1M copies because of that amazon deal, so? What, is that less legitimate? Let's not reduce ourselves to double standards. It still charted higher and had more success and presence worldwide than any single on ARTPOP.

And the one touring stadiums on the heels of a sold out world tour and two back to back HBO deals is Beyonce, not Gaga so maybe that success isn't only on people's minds.

You must be really ignorant if you think that there was a place in the world that DIL was more successful than Applause. Do your research first and then talk. ANd no, a high position on BB doesn't make a song a hit. As for the VMAs I won't even bother.

Wow, name calling. That's mature.

No bb, I'm not ignorant. I'm on the internet, I watch TV and listen to the radio. DIL had an enormous impact on those three fronts. People liked it and were here for it. When Applause came out, yes it had hype and success but no one gave three ****s about it afterwards. They are still playing DIL on the radio and the music channels. Applause sold more? Ok. But DIL was a bigger hit. And the VMAs nominations that you "won't even bother" with, even if I agree that they are meaningless, shows that people liked the song more and still have it on their minds.

Applaus egets still played on the radio and music channels as well and considering how much more it sold than DIL and the longebity it had it seems that more people cared about it than about DIL. Get over it.

Not here for this for many reasons.

First of all the period of waiting and experiencing the release of an album is a very interesting one. Secondly Beyonce did it last year. Also it was not such a great strategy as many claimed. The impact of the Whole Era was like 4 months and there were no successful singles. MAybe she got some good album sales and awards but overall the Era was kind of forgettable. FInally Gaga's Eras need hyping because of her big fanbase than needs to be recruited before the release.

So no, it's not a good idea.

MTE. The BEYONCÉ era died too soon.

I mean I love Beyoncé but I hate that he's trying to discredit Gaga to defend her.
