Kit Walker 6
Gaga, Lorde, Adele and Lana are tied for best. Marina can be genius too.

ItsTommyBitch 12,640
Lorde is very poetic and good at painting a clear image. I think Gaga is better at being abstract. Yah your right. Abstract was the wrong word. I actually personally love with Gaga gets political with her themes because she dresses them up with s-x and glamour and fame and artistry, esp. on BTW I just meant that some of the metaphors and things that Lorde writes in her music dont immediately click for me. It seems she writes about her own life and culture a lot and i dont understand some of it on first listen. Lyrics to songs like No Better come to mind in that i was confused what they were about Maybe im just a flop.
Haldy 1,258
For people who write their own material, she's very good! I would not say the best, but yes, very good!
Prometheus 1,494
MJH lyrics make no sense so about that And obviously Kety is the number 1 at lyrics lez be real. Lady of the 'Dam won't Won't be a slave to the blonde Or the culture of the popular (She won't, she won't) She is a rebel. She won't conform to the blonde popstar image. "Lady of the 'Dam" is referencing Amsterdam. Sing at you, I'll Fly under radar tonight Make deals with every devil in sight (I will, I will) Again, she won't be popular. She'll make deals with devils in order to become famous or possibly just talking about d--g dealers. I don't like to boast But our truffles are the most Mad-magical in Amsterdam (She won't, she won't) Her d--gs are basically the bomb.com. So if you have fear, Apollo Sit on my lyre, and Play him like a piano man (I will, I will) This is a more abstract verse. I am thinking it deals with the music industry because Apollo was the Greek god of music and a lyre is an instrument he was associated with. "Piano Man" is a song by Billy Joel. I think the song is about her being a rebel as well as smoking pot. Yah your right. Abstract was the wrong word. I actually personally love with Gaga gets political with her themes because she dresses them up with s-x and glamour and fame and artistry, esp. on BTW I just meant that some of the metaphors and things that Lorde writes in her music dont immediately click for me. Guest
I prefer Lana Del Rey and Katy Perry and Bonnie McKee and Jessie J overall There are some songs of Gaga's that I like more than the aforementioned artists though Some of the vivid imagery Gaga uses is stunning I do think she's an incredible songwriter I'll never get over So Happy I Could Die, my favourite lyrics of any song ever  Katy? Bonnie? I don't get if it's irony ?

I was just feeling so casual i forgot Please forgive me Also, to the lines i kept quoted I think it means that shes inviting other people that create music (Apollo) to come over to her side (sit on her lyre) and dont be afraid to go crazy/be artistic? (Play him like a piano man.. Billy Joel is artistic and a free spirit ) Apollo could also be the music industry in general. Probably way off, but Just first thoughts. 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから
Daydream 541
In terms of songwriting, I would say that she surpasses most of her contemporaries such as Taylor Swift, Sia, Lorde, Lana Del Rey, Katy Perry/Bonnie McKee and Ke$ha. However, I do feel like Michael Jackson, Madonna and Mariah Carey are better... Not because they've been around longer but their choice of words and their melodies are stronger. This might seem crazy to some people but I also think to an extent that she's a better writer than the Beatles. With that being said, she's only done four albums and she continues to evolve and grow as an artist and her lyrics through each album prove it since they get better and better. SinAgain 33
She can be very good. But I don't think she is consistently the best. Which is fine!
Memo 176
I think Sia, Gaga, Lana, Marina and Lorde are pretty good atm. tbh atm these are who I'd consider tbh except that both Gaga and Lana have pretty lyrics but still good
Guest
Nope I think they're both amazing songwriters Maybe, but their lyrics are fun. Not genius like Bloody Mary + Katy writes her songs with 5/6 peoples, we don't know if she writes only 1 sentence ... Do u heard her ET explication ? She dint get the metaphore... Weird if she wrote it...
RodeckDanny 2,450
Who are other contenders? There's tons of good ones out there, some more known than others, but i can say for example, Adele, Janelle Monae, Bo Bruce. Listen to my debut pop single 'Want You Bad'!
