Whispering 18,865
It was inevitable. It happens with all polarizing artists. Seriously how many times have we had this thread... Exactly. Several times...every week...for MONTHS now!

LaLuna 12,732
Is it just a phase all artists have to go through no matter what? Is it because she no longer has the team she had in previous eras (RedOne, Nicola... etc!) Is it because of her image and music? Even though her image and music during the ARTPOP era are "lighter" and "easier" than it was during the dark TFM and BTW eras, for example, and yet TFM is probably her biggest era. Is it because she's not the "it girl" anymore and that every she does is no longer shocking people as they already have in mind that Gaga would still try to shock, so it's kinda expected? Is it because of business matters like promo, management... etc!? But she's Gaga. Not sure what went wrong You just answered your own quesion. No one can stay on top forever. xzxyyxzx 116
She was an IT girl at the beginning she was new and flashy. But honestly, I'm totally fine with her being a niche artist who has creative control. I don't want her to appeal to the masses, that's not the Gaga that interested me to begin with. She's doing incredible work, I don't understand why there's a problem with her having a more limited audience. How can you say that the mass appeal gaga didn't get you intrested? That's how everyone basically found out about gaga unless you were one of the few who had been a fan since red and blue.. Gaga is mainstream, Btw was mainstream, and ARTPOP Was mainstream, she has never been underground..
WorkBeep 0
It's honestly because people grew tired of her gimmicks. People looked at her as artistic during TFM but once she kept becoming more and more ridicules people looked at it as off putting
Addy Ezzie 2
Decayed? What a strong word Easy: she lost her GP s-x appeal and became too weird and gay-oriented for them. It is not cool to listen to Gaga anymore (it is changing after ARTPOP however). She should keep her straights on a leash like Rihanna does. MTE. destructivelove 563
It was inevitable. It happens with all polarizing artists. Seriously how many times have we had this thread... about half as many times as the "guyssss this is why ARTPOP wasn't a flop/ gaga is still loved by everyone/my aunt's friend's daughter likes ARTPOP best so it actually is the best album EVER created etc" threads :awkney:

destructivelove 563
She's too gay, too polemic (Judas for example), she saturated too much, she released her music in a really bad moment (really? At the same time as Katy?), her sound is still really away from the radio-friendly sounds and the singles choices and promotion have been such a mess since The Edge Of Glory, so it was obvious it was gonna explode. Moreover, her scandals are not as surprising as seeing Hannah Montana naked this
Nein 508
Gaga has immense talent. She'll be fine. To me, there is no decay. ARTPOP is wonderful and artRAVE is wonderful. This

That's how everyone basically found out about gaga unless you were one of the few who had been a fan since red and blue.. Gaga is mainstream, Btw was mainstream, and ARTPOP Was mainstream, she has never been underground.. MTE. I mean everyone's gonna say btw was so shocking...etc. And though it maybe have been different from traditional pop music. She was still mainstream. The album was mainstream. It was a "POP"-rock album. She's a pop star. She's not some Unknown niche indie artist. Even if ARTPOP was a complete flop...even if every single was complete **** (speaking theoretically). It doesn't automatically make her an underground indie artist. If rihanna released bad music/or one of her albums flopped...would you go around calling rihanna an "underground" indie artist. No... So I don't get where people are getting this "gaga is soooo niche now" mentality. She's still a popstar. And until the day she says she's only making bizarre yoko Ono screaming albums or starts making folk chant music, etc. She will STILL be a popstar. Whether she flops or rises. Being "under the GP radar" so to speak (AT THE MOMENT I may add) doesn't change what kind of artist she is
Essence 235
about half as many times as the "guyssss this is why ARTPOP wasn't a flop/ gaga is still loved by everyone/my aunt's friend's daughter likes ARTPOP best so it actually is the best album EVER created etc" threads Wow, you clearly don't come on here much if you think there is more of an abundance of those kinds of threads From December to March, it was constant Gaga bashing. Titzlol 607
Ummm I think all of them do, Michael, Madonna, Rihanna, Britney, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, But they all get another hit, and then some flop again, and then get another hit. One good album that happened to flop doesnt mean they'll never have success again edit: Doesnt Rihanna flop all the time But yet she still has multiple records to her name+ regarded as an icon, plus everyone still likes her and looks forward to her music. one bad album isnt the end Gaga will get another Pokerface/Bad Romance sized hit. Just like RIhanna did We Found Love after Disturbia/Umbrella. :)

Moreover, her scandals are not as surprising as seeing Hannah Montana naked Gaga announced her release dates first and then Katy Keene ~mysteriously~ decided to release her release dates which were shockingly close to Gaga's. You can't blame Gaga for that... Back on topic. It's a mix of everything: * Outfits have been more hit and miss this era * Parading for the gays 24/7 during BTW (I'm pleased she did this though, good for her <3) * Mismanagement/single choices * Quality of ARTPOP (in my subjective opinion, feel free to disagree) * Less promo * When you're at the top, you can only go down. She'll get back on top again. And if she doesn't? Eh, she'll still release decent music.
