MJHolland 12,725
She failed to deliver the idea to the mainstream world, to the masses, its ARTPOP, pop stands for popular which we all know how that turned out to be Also, I didn't know you could "fail" at delivering an album to the mainstream world by having a number one album, having that album be in the top 10 best selling albums of 2013 (not to mention having it released just for two months by 2013's end!), having the second best selling electronic dance album of 2014, AND having a SOLD OUT world tour. mess @ people who say ARTPOP failed commercially

MJHolland 12,725
k g.u.y dwuw swine (its album version is bad tho) donatella (horrible lyrics tho) are explosive but they are nothing like aura (dont get me wrong i love dwuw s-xxx dreams g.u.y) but applause was generic MANiCURE was not like aura fashion Jewels N' Drugs gypsy.... how can u deny that most of ARTPOP was forced? (it is my second fav album tho) hmm, maybe because she spent two years making and writing it. Nothing was forced or rushed. It's her best and most mature work as an artist. Doroteyo 444
In my opinion, 'ARTPOP' is a success, not in the sense of the album, but in its honest vision, because it has been the period where Gaga has found a place in the minds of many celebrated artists, musicians etc. as a truly talented woman, and from there, a whole new chapter of her career begins. That's a good way to put it, I respect that :)

MJHolland 12,725
i kinda agree with it. i don't listen to ARTPOP since a while. i'm very into BTW now ARTPOP is missing that gaga touch ARTPOP isn't missing Gaga's touch. popper 3
Numbers and chart wise yes it was a success, not as much as her previous albums. Yet people just like to call it a flop because it didn't sell as well as they expected In terms of the era it was a huge mess since the single swap. The fashion, tour and videos have been good though. Then the app

ItsTommyBitch 12,640
*Sigh* It wasn't a universal success like some of you think that the word "success" must mean But it was a success to those who cared to see it. I think she knew that the Concept was kind of Deep for the average listener or even average fan. I respect her for embodying an idea that means a lot to her, regardless of whether the people were here for it or not. There is a slight disconnect between the Music and the Concept, but its ok because not every lyric has to reflect a concept for it to be considered effective. I also think some of the songs that made the final cut are not as "ARTPOP" as some that were put on the back burner, but the music is just a part of the entire thing. I personally love this kind of idea. "My ARTPOP could mean anything" is such a brilliant line. It has the haters saying its "just a cop out for an underdeveloped theme" and the GP thinking the same. But its pretty literal. Its liberating. Conceptually, BTW has more of an emotional impact on me, but I still like ARTPOP more. And yes, she has been doing ARTPOP her entire career, I mean she even mentioned it before in an interview or two So in that way this is just a celebration of ARTPOP, i dont think her goal was to make young kids and teens and young adults sit down and think about "Art". I mean even in that situation most people don't see all the forms of what Art can be, so itd be useless to set out on that specific a goal but ofc, she did have to reference the most obvious form of Art. Things like Paintings and Performance Art and making her body a canvas are a part of that, so she did make reference of them in her clothing and performances accordingly. It just kinda bothers me when people are so 2 dimensional that they look at an album called ARTPOP and say "wheres the art? I hear Pop music with a little EDM influence". Some people are so blind to the idea its frustrating... But I digress.. ♪ We could, We could Belong together.
