DMTT 160 Posted July 12, 2014 Share Posted July 12, 2014 ARTPOP is awful. Easily Gaga's worst album and also her worst era. I'm here because of the brilliance of her past albums. This exactly! ARTPOP is a terrible, terrible album. The lyrics are truly atrocious and the concepts are just friggin ridiculous. I'm here still because I know she's a talented lady and one day will release an album that truly represents who she is as a vocalist/writer/pianist/musician. Nice TFM avatar as well. I hope you're right, but I don't have that much hope for her future albums. It seems that her old team who have now left her was behind a lot of her work in her golden years. That isn't saying that the quality overall is bad, but that the public won't buy the songs to make them hits because they're not as generic as the songs being played on the radio. That's the point that I was trying to make. I never said it doesn't deserve praise, I said that it doesn't deserve to be praised any higher than it was. It was a number one album and loads of fans love it, but I don't think it deserves to hailed as a highlight of her career, because, in my opinion, it simply isn't. It is still good, though, and I like it. (Please read what I actually wrote next time before paraphrasing me, hahah). And if the last comment was referring to me, that's not the case. As I've said twice now I LIKE ARTPOP, but there are issues with the album. Intentional or not, my subjective taste feels as though it's too incoherent (in terms of sound, vocals and production), to be hailed as her greatest piece. Sorry. LittleBoot 27 Posted July 12, 2014 Share Posted July 12, 2014 I prefer to assess an album after an extended period of time, particularly when comparing it to the rest of an artist's catalogue of work. A really good album is timeless and will age well when you listen to it years later. ARTPOP wasn't her best work, but that's just my opinion, and everyone has a right to theirs. :) I look forward to seeing what she does after C2C. I don't agree with your opinions on Gaga's albums, but they are yours and I'm not going to be immature and attempt to drag you for them. I find it funny how I am a hated member on here, yet all of these people who are ganging up on you for having an opinion aren't. As far as this topic goes, I personally feel like ARTPOP is Gaga's best work because all of the tracks are enjoyable. I don't care for Donatella, MANiCURE, and G.U.Y, but I can still listen to them. The Fame is pre-school Gaga and is pretty much basic filler pop besides the 4 main singles. I can listen to the whole album and enjoy the songs, but when compared to the rest of Gaga's discography it is a disgrace. The Fame seems to have been made to be a watered down version of what Gaga can do as an artist, just to get her foot in the door in the industry. It worked and I respect Gaga for that but I am happy she has let her talent come through on TFM, BTW, and AP. TFM isn't her best work in my opinion because it is so short and it has blemishes such as Telephone, Speechless, and Teeth which prevent it from being perfect for me. BTW also has blemishes such as Bad Kids, Americano, BJAM, FOHL, and The Queen which prevent it from being perfect for me. All in all, despite BTW being her most creative album, ARTPOP is her best album. This is clearly my opinion not a fact. I hate how on this site people think that when I or someone else posts, we think we are posting facts. Clearly this entire post is my opinion, get over it.
