mister max 18,480
Stop talking about sales. You guys are arguing the wrong point and using opinions over facts. Facts: ARTPOP even though it was an LP, was only given three singles, one which did not have a released music video because of how badly managed she was because of her team and Manager. Almost every song on the album has the exact same BPM or around the same range, for those of you who don't know music that means BEATS PER MEASURE, literally determines how fast a song is. The album is pretty slow for a "fun irresponsible celebration" album. yeah right, dope, donatella, ARTPOP, venus, MANiCURE, jnd, all the s1me BPM Allowing the theme to be subjectivity due to art made things hard to follow and led each song to have its own life that wouldn't connect to the next. I agree with this, as an album, I personally think ARTPOP doesnt fit, this doesnt take away that every song on it own is good artRave/ARTPOP Ball was her shortest tour she's ever performed, why? Ugh... Why promote a bad album longer. Duh. how is 2.5 M sold a bad album I know some pop starts who would cut their arm off for that Unreleased songs like Partynauseous, Brooklyn Nights, and others were more craved and liked than actual songs on the album. pretty sure, if they would have been on the album you would ask for the ones that were replaced by them She had to fire her manager and she blamed her ENTIRE TEAM for not being there for her after waking up from surgery and her label was sold without her knowing as said on Howard Stern. her entire team? These are facts Little Monsters. There's things to enjoy on ARTPOP but in total its literally her worst album in every way. Notice how I didn't even touch the subject on "sales" and "numbers" and other mathematical logical things that prove how good music is but instead I just used every other crucial piece of evidence that you cannot deny. Okay now I'll post opinions that you can actually fight over: ready Some songs were too literal in lyrics and when metaphors were used they were done with ineptitude. Even older unreleased songs like Out of Control, Nothing On But The Radio, and Princess Die were wanted to be on the album and are still liked more than most of ARTPOP. if these songs were on the album, and the ones who didnt make the cut leaked, I am pretty sure you would say the same RedOne should've never ever left, he makes diamonds and gold compared to the cookie cutter generic same BPM weak ARTPOP song. Fernando Garibay's Trap/HardStyle take on Partynauseous was literally stronger than any production on ARTPOP. no, the leaked version would've not fit the album I Wanna Be With You is a much more beautiful ballad than Dope could ever dream of being and it's a travesty to see her ruin such a song that could've been uplifting and about her love for Taylor and her fans, but instead was a song about "addiction" to marijuana which she's still smokes but apparently isn't a problem??? Especially not in Stache, Mary Jane Holland and every smoke shop she still visits in other countries. uhmm sis, dope has better lyrics Applause is a joke and I'm almost 10000% sure Interscope or her crappy past Manager forced the living free will out of her to put it out and make it the first single, hence why she leaked Aura because she wanted it first. applause became one of her signature hits, but i still agree they pushed her and aura was meand to be first DWUW was the worst and most literally lyrics she's ever written. Making a racy video with someone who was accused of rape with the lines "DO WHAT YOU WANT WITH MY BODY!" and having the video shot by Terry Richardson who at the time was being accused of molesting his models was a huge mistake, not to mention she chose all of this over Venus, which was her self produced effort and would've gotten her major creative points despite the fact Madeon helped. pretty sure her label pushed her again, DWUW went to #1 when it was released first, then dope and venus, so its normal they choose the best selling track It's just a mess. whats a mess? ARTPOP? Im so happy Cheek To Cheek sounds perfect and she deserved her Grammy, and her next album is already in the bag to sound great now that RedOne (Gaga God) is back. lets pray for that I hope I didn't ruffle too many drag Queen's feathers.... Just spilling the Tea because it's been Oolong since I had a shot. LOOOOOOL I spilled some TEA to by answering your post dont come after me Buy ARTPOP on itunes or smth? Bradley 59,163
I won't say it's the best but it's definitely not a bad album and is hell of a good one. The album is filled with bops and great songs and great lyrics. Beautiful theme, beautiful visual and beautiful performances. I'm glad it happened. gagzus 15,943
Maybe not of ALL TIME, but I'd certainly say it's the most underrated of the modern popstars, and before that Bionic was.I believe ARTPOP is her second-best album and (personally) draws level with The Fame as my second fave, BTW being my overall favourite and TFM being my least. But I would like to shed some light on the situation for BOTH of the sides arguing over the album, era etc... [note this will be a long post so i'll put it in spoilers]Firstly, yes the era did not deliver what we expected and what she promised and we were ultimately disappointed, however, to me that's not an excuse because BTW had a lot of the elements we were expecting in it's era disposed of; BTW Country Road video, Americano Mariachi Version, Scheiße as a single, Heavy Metal Lover as the 6th and final single in 2012, at least 8 singles were supposed to happen I believe, the full Judas video, TEOG cinematic video and probably many other things I can't even remember. But to counter this, an era in the eyes of the public or outside of our own stanbase is NOT representative of an album, because they don't follow an artist's every move or promise on her own social network site or in fan videos from meeting and conversations backstage at tours do they? So the success or lack thereof from the album in the GP wasn't down to it's era in my eyes. She delivered exactly what she promised MUSICALLY- a fun EDM album with the potential to be a huge and hit album, which it did have and at least 7-9 singles could've happened in all honesty, inspired by adrenaline and her combining everything about her past eras into one- so much to the point where we could literally add the songs on AP to her previous albums.BUT, to counter this as well, she had promised several half-baked ideas and never made a true clear concept of what ARTPOP was going to be until mid-after the actual era (the VEVO certified videos for example we got like almost a year after the end of the era), the ORIGINAL concept we got was the Disney Princess High theme and the fan concept theory with Princess Die etc was pointing towards an album written about decay (which I still think she should do especially after ARTPOP's reception). It was her own fault we did not understand it until recently. As for the actual execution of the era, her team was in disarray and Troy, Jimmy and even Akon had decided to abandon her after milking her for every dollar they could, Akon even claiming he was glad he got away because her career was & was going to plummet fast and hard into irrelevancy, her change of management and team led to ideas being abandoned and changed either last minute or never at all. However, as a counter for this, one could argue that that situation was additionally Gaga's fault- due to the fact she had admitted during and post-ARTPOP that Troy and her label were pressuring her hard in mid-late 2012 and it being one of the causes for her marijuana addiction (along with hip pain post-November 2012)- that would instantly be a red flag that her team wanted her to be something she wasn't and when she stated Troy and others did not care for her when she was in surgery and in bed and wheelchair bound for months, to me - she should have taken that as the last straw and fired him & her other selfish team members even before she got out of hospital tbh. If she acted faster perhaps the era wouldn't be as messy, and if she had actually gotten help in 2012 she'd never have had her hip injury. But that's subjective ultimately because we don't know (this is strictly how I see it).Next I move onto those who blame her affiliation to R Kelly & Terry to be the start of the era's downfall, although we could argue that this happened because of that it doesn't seem to matter to those in the GP- they liked the song and the video could've been her best had it been released, the package on BitTorrent we would've got would've had an explanation of ideas interview with Gaga & Terry so we'd know the idea behind the video (although she told fans backstage the concept when they asked). So to me this isn't the cause of anything, just another receipt for haters to use against her. However, to counter this, the video was supposedly unreleased because of the whole Terry & R Kelly scandals that were happening (and also Gaga being given too small a time frame to conceive and make the video) thus leaving the video unreleased and the derail of the era supposedly happened because of this. Now onto G.U.Y. - the whole purpose this song did not chart well is clear, Gaga never promoted it except 2 radio interviews and one TV performance, had she done a full scale promotional tour worldwide I believe it could've been top 10 or even top 5 depending. But Gaga already explained that they released the song & video purely because fans wanted the song as a single, to her the era was dead and over with and hence why her label wouldn't pay for the video to be made. But in the end a good song got a SPECTACULAR video. As for the music, your taste in music is subjective, however ARTPOP is a brilliant mainstream EDM record and has many different genres tucked into it, and as mentioned before the songs I believe were single worthy were- Applause, Venus, DWUW, MANiCURE, G.U.Y., Donatella, Fashion!, MJH & Gypsy all are catchy and radio friendly, they're all big and have sounds that could've fitted into 2013/14 radio trends.I still think MJH should've been the lead single from the album or if not then Venus. Lassex 1,169
I really feel like it lacks soul. Many of the lyrics are kind of shallow. Maybe the production wasn't so "in" when it came out, either. And to be honest, the melodies are obviously not outstanding - Born This Way and The Fame Monster melodies were. I'm not saying that ARTPOP is a bad album, I personally enjoy it, but I can understand why some people don't like it

Neal 768
Each and everyone here was pissing at swinefest, every snippet posted, and when the album leaked in lq - even in ATRL they were acting like ARTPOP was going to bring world peace and cure cancer. But then the reviews came in... the underperforming sales (which was underperforming in GAGA standard) went in... Then suddenly ARTPOP was the worst Gaga album ever. This fanbase I swear EDIT: this was a bumped thread I just realized LOL
