ARTPOP is the most underrated album ever

As much as it is a good album, it doesn't hold a candle to Born This Way. The fact that it was released after one of the greatest albums in the history of pop music makes it underappreciated, perhaps, 'cause let's face it, it WAS a downgrade.
actually one of the reasons it flopped because of BTW, I hated that album when it first came out, I only loved TEOG, BTW, yoü & I and hair, and the GP hated the **** out of it too & lost interest in her and everybody clearly know that, I'm not sure if you were here those days actually

They are all basic bubblegum pop besides Aura.

It's longer than 25 minutes. It is not an EP. Look it up.

Which Aura are you referring to? Demo Aura or machete kills aura, or both?

I find the passionate aura is the demo version of Aura, not the machete kills version. I hate how it was changed on the album.

Demo Aura. Final version has the backing vocals raised which throws off the chorus, and the rerecorded verses ruin the flow of the song compared to the old.

Well tbh... Pop music is on the decline right now so I can say the same about Katy Perry and Britney Spears who also recently released albums; compared to their past discographies, their newer bodies of work aren't esteemed as their predecessors. That being said, for a Gaga record it's a huge disappointment to most of the GP, fan base, and critics because it lacks what her other albums had; a solid and coherent theme that unified or tied the album. 'ARTPOP could mean anything' is very redundant and as heme failed to garner the same response that it's predecessors received. Sure, 'ARTPOP' has great songs, but many of them lack soul, meaning that they were written to be nothing more than pop songs for people to enjoy. It's almost as though she stepped away from 'Born This Way's controversial background to put out a record that she planned would be an interactive experience. THIS is why the album is not as highly esteemed or as widely accepted as her previous works; because it was supposed to be an interactive experience that audiences would be able to experience first hand through the app. The album was meant to be listened through and experienced through what the app had to offer. As an artist, she didn't work hard enough on the concepts that she alluded to before the ARTPOP era commenced. She promised that the album would be an otherworldly experience that combined music, fashion, and technology in new and innovative ways; none of them happened.

That being said it's not her fault. She made the mistake of appointing DJWS as the album's executive producer and he pointed her in a different direction, one which she should have never gone down. He made her experience with trap and rap and r&b, genres which she should never pursue because they really aren't her forté. Aside from the title track and 'Applause' and maybe 'DWUW', his productions aren't nearly as good as his previous work on Born This Way. That being said I feel she should pursue further work with Madeon and return to working alongside Fernando Garibay and Red One, and I guarantee you that the Gaga the world fell in love with will return.

Mythos

I don't know what to think about this Album anymore, after listening to it for months, for me its not that bad, but its also not that good, its just kinda out there, with no real purpose or meaning.

And also i don't think its underrated at all.

Monster2015

I feel like what started it all was the Roar vs Applause situation. Had that not happened, ARTPOP would've done better. Also the confusion of the second single, controversy with R. Kelly on DWUW, the media being big brother with how many albums being sold in the first week, and katy keene always being a step ahead of her when gaga took her step (I have my opinion on that but it's too much to say) if it was more organized it could've done better. Honestly she should've gotten rid of Troy Carter a long time ago and went to Live Nation before ARTPOP.

FameHungry

I think it's very underrated as well. It's an amazing album and I still listen to at least one ARTPOP song every single day because imo it's that good. It's almost like these songs were meant to exist, I can't explain it :toofunny: Born This Way is my fav album of hers but ARTPOP is a close 2nd. Still not sick of Venus btw :laughga:

And to people saying to others "Oh, you're wrong, you only care about sales." Just because they're a Gaga stan doesn't mean they have to love ARTPOP. You can't force yourself to like something.

Sorry, but if you don't think things like ARTPOP would be considered an amazing piece of music and it would have gotten a lot better reviews from critics if it sold better then your delusional :manicure:

I'm not getting into any arguments in this thread because there is one fact that no one can deny, ARTPOP is a really cool concept that should have been given more respect, but since it didn't sell so well it is seen as a messy concept and gets bet reviews from critics

Your first sentence makes no sense, so I am going to disregard it if you don't mind.

This exactly! ARTPOP is a terrible, terrible album. The lyrics are truly atrocious and the concepts are just friggin ridiculous. I'm here still because I know she's a talented lady and one day will release an album that truly represents who she is as a vocalist/writer/pianist/musician. Because se has an amazing voice, is great at piano, and has proven to write some great songs (though her lyrics get worse and worse lately).

all of this.
