If Gaga Had Control Over Single Choices

Tbh if Gaga took control more often then we'd have more eras like the G.U.Y. era :rip:

I think the label should make choices for her, but she needs the RIGHT people controlling her (like her team back in TFM era)

You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.

It makes people pre order the album

it makes people not knowing what the actual single is and also ends current single performance really fast

it's the singles whose purpose is to promote the album + Gaga's team clearly cannot handle releasing single and promo single at once (Judas/TEOG, Venus/DWUW/Dope, which even got #8 and DWUW couldn't)

WTF is a promo single even ? a promo of a promo of an album ? :sweep:

Promo singles are brilliant idea but Gaga team is dumb and doesn't know to distinguis real sucess from preorder effect. Also there is no need to rush release song. DH was promo single and was sucessful but Katy didn't rush released it, she waited few months and it still managed to become mega hit

yes, but we don't know if Unconditionally flopped on its own or its flopping was with the help of DH which stole the spotlight which is a very possible cause

It's pretty clear from the way she kept promoting Venus after it was shelved that her heart was set on it being the second single.

Well first of all, I think Sexxx Dreams might have actually been the lead single instead of Applause.

And yes, I think Venus would have been the second single.

(although I think DWUW might have gotten the single treatment later on as #3 or #4)

On a side note, I really hope that they are more confident and organized with their single choices in the future. I thought they would have learned their lesson after the BTW era, but apparently not.

They need to pick the first 3 singles before the era starts, and have the order set in stone.  That will give Gaga plenty of time to plan and find her vision for each song.  Then if the first or second singles don't go over well, they've got the next one ready to go and momentum doesn't die like it did between DWUW and G.U.Y.

MANiDONTCURE

interesting she wanted AUra as first single, Venus as second,

perhaps GUY as third and Sexxx Dreams as fourth? :derpga:

I stop listening to ARTPOP after these 4 songs lol that'd be perfect.

Venus would've definitely been the second single, but I think she would've eventually released DWUW as either the third or the fourth single. She seemed to really love that track before the single switch mess.

I'm REALLY hoping that she gets control over the singles for the next album now that Troy is gone. The BTW singles that she said she wanted were absolutely perfect and would've garnered a hell of a lot more success for the album and era. And her wanting Aura as the first single from ARTPOP proves that she knows what she's doing.

Exactly.  And she's not the only person if left to their own devices would pick the wrong first single, which the first single is crucial.  Applause was the right choice.  It did great on the charts and is the only song that would have done that well.  Venus would not have done that well.  Regarding needing the right people, I remember what Elton John said before the era started.

"He tells TheAustralian.com.au, “With Gaga – who I love, she’s the godmother to our children – I’d like to be able to talk to her right now, but I can’t get through to her.â€

And it seems outspoken Elton has a few words of wisdom to impart: “There are times when you have to listen. When your persona begins to take over your music and becomes more important, you enter a dangerous place. Once you have people around you who don’t question you, you’re in a dangerous place.â€
