idldte 2
Because it's not a good song. The chorus is so incredibly weak. There's nothing memorable or catchy about it at all.
monstereo 1,232
Sounds outdated, like some pop song from the early 2000s. Weak Chorus. Same problem MTN had with sounding too 80s.
Applause 650
It needed Applause sort promo to get going  I personally love GUY Xalser
PatrickMonster 6,463
Bad song, dated EDM sound, unrelatable lyrics.
Pain of fame1 229
This cuestion again? Well, despite it's weak chorus ( yet catchy) and outdated EDM synths G.U.Y could have been a hit: IF IT WAS PROMOTED MASSIVELY.
Tommymonster44 0
1. Poor public opinion of Gaga 2. It was released post album, so it needed casual listeners to support it because fans already bought the album. 3. Dwuw didn't do well. Something to understand about radio is that they look at previous singles to predict public opinion on the current one. They saw DWUW didn't do well, so they decide to not spin G.U.Y. 4. The beat and subject matter is still left field for America. The verses are a bit abrasive and this is basically a power bottom anthem.
E24187 615
Um. GUY is one if the catchiest songs she's ever done. She didn't promote. Marry The Night got more promo than this did. Also, this era ended at the Billboard Awards. If GUY wasn't a hit, nothing else on ARTPOP had a chance. Plain and simple.
GagaisHotAF 419
Because the era started to die after DWUW and usually radio's don't play 3rd singles from what they deem "unsuccessful albums" Probably on Grindr
E24187 615
Because the era started to die after DWUW and usually radio's don't play 3rd singles from what they deem "unsuccessful albums" right. People saying it isn't catchy but then getting life to Judas or the god awful Hair is just inconsistent. I believe the no. 1 problem is that the era was over. Like....if she were to release Scheiße now, despite it being one of the best songs from BTW, it would flop because the era is over. Same with GUY. GagaisHotAF 419
right. Exactly. If G.U.Y. was the first or second single it probably would have SLAYED. Probably on Grindr
E24187 615
GUY would've been a hit third single if DWUW was handled properly. Instead, they both flopped.

A few people I know that don't care for the new album love ARTPOP and Gypsy.
Mills 446
This has been discussed countless times. It didn't become a hit because of various reasons, including the lack of promotional push from Gaga and her team, the dreadful radio treatment it received, and the timing of its release (almost three months after DWUW was slowing down on iTunes and on radio). Anyway, if you want to still discuss this kind of things, please do so in our Gaga Charts Discussion Thread. Closing.
