How was G.U.Y. not a hit?

Radios didnt give it a chance ----> no one knows it was released

And also I think people shouldnt blame relatability. Most casual music listeners dont care about that

It's a weak song in my opinion, so maybe it just wasn't appealing to radio DJ's and people who heard it?

It didn't have a lot of promo, either.

Oh well.

Literally the only people who know about GUY are Gaga fans and people who go on pop music forums, other than that everybody assumed DWUW was the last single from ARTPOP.

Here in Holland it's worse. I think more people think the last single was Applause.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

I know a lot of people didn't even know G.U.Y was a single in Australia especially. I personally think the song had potential especially in overseas markets because EDM was charting quite well when G.U.Y came out

The simple fact is that nobody knew the song existed.

Don't shade the song don't call it non radio friendly because it was the most radio friendly song on the album especially with Zedd. The video was awesome and I don't understand how you don't consider it to be one of her best videos. It's one of the best songs on the album and now that it flopped, there's suddenly hate surrounding it. Mess.

It's as simple as lack of promotion so nobody knew the song existed.

#1 the song is just not that good, it lacks a strong chorus/catchy hooks

#2 People are over her atm. She hasn't been impressing anyone with her recent antics (the puke incident, DWUW, etc.), and ARTPOP's vague message.

-It's not a good pop song(Pop songs need specific things to be hits; catchy, strong chorus, hooks, simple).

-Management mess threw off the promotion of the album.

-No video for Do What You Want made people forget about ARTPOP entirely.

G.U.Y. was promoted quite well actually. Interview and behind the scenes on The Today Show, an exclusive preview of the music video was aired on NBC Dateline's 20/20, performing the song on David Letterman, as well has having Andy Cohen and the Real Housewives apart of the video which would generate free promo for their fans.

It may looks good on paper, but in practice it was awful. It barely has a promo and all of her I don't give a slightly **** about charts attitude didn't help it very well. Two interviews, 11 minutes long video that includes three different songs on it and one TV performance don't match her disappearance before that.

smh at everyone saying it was just for the fans

please, after Gypsy (and the previous singles), GUY is the most radio-friendly sounding song on the album so was one of the more obvious choices
if Gaga was going to do a video 'just for the fans' she'd have done Venus and ARTPOP without GUY, in my opinion.

anyway, I have no idea why it didnt smash :( I guess the lack of promo? Ah well, worse things have happened in the world than a song not charting highly.

yes. the promo sucked. I heard it only once on the radio and a couple of times on mtv. but I love that song.
