Azor Ahai 18,861
E-cigs are not a form of tobacco E-cigs still have nicotine in them. They do like 10% damage of normal cigarettes and much more slowly but they are still not safe and people shouldnt risk using them , since they are pretty new and we dont know what many many years of use could do. http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/may/05/rise-of-e-cigarettes-miracle-or-health-risk

NewYorkCity 10,517
Its really not Studies being done on them are basically saying that the only noticable difference is the vapor/lack of "smoke"... You can still get lung cancer and the toxins in them affect the body in almost the same way that normal tobacco smoke does. Yeah the addiction and carcinogens other than physical smoke are all still there. E-cigarettes are a way to appease a habit, because if people can't quit we should at least let them POSSIBLY have a safer alternative. Second hand effects are inconclusive as of yet. It doesnt help you quit (despite some people actually thinking this) and an approved method of quitting is 10x more effective than an E-cigarette. Its basically for people who smoke, but... arent really planning on quitting, so want to at least possibly* be healthier over time. (I keep saying possibly because we dont know if they are better or worse or equal to cigarettes in the long run, so far the verdict is heading towards "they are just as bad! but at least they look cool!") Mess @ people thinking "at least its not tobacco" That's so false. Lol. When you start with it you get a dosis of Nicotine... for example 10mg. After 2 weeks you can get 8 mg. Etc. And it goes that way till you smoke 0mg of nicotine. I Know 11 people who have quit smoking with that (and I'm talking about people who used to smoke 20-30 cigarretes per day). Of course there are going to be studies saying how bad it is. Just think about the money certain people and the governments are loosing.

blacklistedd 599
Aren't there major health concerns about these? Not exactly. I think a few studies are starting to find "supposedly" that they can still be harmful for you. But they're really not meant to be the healthy alternative to smoking cigarettes anyway. They're supposed to be a way to wean you off of them.

SKANK 14,288
All product placement and endorsements are lame but I don't think there is anything particularly wrong with Gaga endorsing an electronic cigarette. She smokes cigarettes in her music videos, so what is the harm in replacing it with an electronic one? If Beyonce can do a commercial for Pepsi while America (particularly the African American community) faces an unprecedented obesity epidemic then I certainly don't see why Gaga can't endorse a cigarette. Seeing Carrie Fisher pull out her e-ciggeret during interviews and puff away at it like the mentally ill genius that she is gives me life. http://youtu.be/_SFs761eEFk

garnite 8
Maybe she wants to do it because she is a bad person. She promotes alcohol, cigarettes, d--gs, promiscuity and gunsprobably just the money, i'd say, although there could be an argument for having such influence that she does and the seemingly carefree attitude she has to what she does promote and being a bad person but i probably wouldn't subscribe to that.
