TEANUS 15,003
Because the songs flopped because they were overshadowed by her own songs (roar, DH) Judas flopped because The Edge of Glory overshadowed it Like I know it started off really slow, but it actually started to pick up right around the release of TEOG and then they pulled Judas from radios to replace it with TEOG British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
Pain of fame1 229
Because gaga made a difference with BTW, and that annoys people who don't want the POP wolrld to go any further than MILLIONS of people buying katy perry esque-simple inmature smash hits. Gagz 2,579
the tea in this thread :trootea: ugghhhhh Kety I don't know what I think about her, sometimes she good, sometimes she ain't except it doesn't work for Katy as it does for Gaga enter in all the lyrics from BTW find anything like that for Katy and then we'll talk All I meant with my post is that Katy also has content in her music that wouldn't be considered kid-friendly. Miel 15,009
Katy generally doesn't challenge any sort of preconceived mindsets or ideals, at least not directly. She's fun, her music's cute, and everything about her work is just... nice. That's about it. Gaga is not always nice and easy with her work- with Born This Way especially, she constantly makes statements against many preconceived mindsets and ideals that make people angry. And with that, they just... I don't know, brush her off? It's stupid, but it happened and still happens. 3 points in and ready for more
SpadesToStart 3,448
Katy doesn't anger/irritate people like Gaga does. So when Gaga isn't successful, people are a lot quicker to jump on her back and try to tear her down. Anyway, Uncle and Birthday prove that, like Gaga, Katy's Imperial Phase is over, and not any old thing she releases will become a hit.
Gagz 2,579
but not to the extent of Gaga I wasn't really trying to make it a competition

Echo 327
Katy is relateable, while Gaga is singing about being a power bottom. But that's none of my business.
Antidote 95
I think it's always like that in life. One person does something and everyone thinks it's so awesome, but if someone else does it it's crap. It's unfair and weird and there's not always an explanation for it

mic 1,415
Because gaga made a difference with BTW, and that annoys people who don't want the POP wolrld to go any further than MILLIONS of people buying katy perry esque-simple inmature smash hits. What difference she made? To me this album is an celebration of 80s and 90s sonically and tolerance themed in lyrics.
