This is very different from Gaga penning a blueprint of lyrics / chords on her piano, and then sending to Madeon to produce an electronic backing production - which is how I have always imagined her songs being produced, and certainly the way that it has previously been described and portrayed (á la "creative vomit"). Perhaps the style of producing / writing for ARTPOP differed from her previous releases.

I think my discomfort comes from the fact that the root of the song, its core sound, tone and melody, has not come originally from Gaga herself. Though she added to the finished product, I can't help but feel this devalues the credibility of her creative contribution.

I am being a negative nancy, but I can't help expressing myself - very happy to be politely disabused!

I think, with Gaga, she has two core methods- the one that's here with Madeon, with her adding on to a producer's skeleton, and the other method being that of her crafting the skeleton from scratch with the other producers (there are probably more in between, and more methods overall, but imo these are probably the big two).

For each album, there's definitely a mix of both. I think The Fame has a lot of those, with ARTPOP probably following suit. While I'm personally more a fan of the method building the skeleton from scratch (which probably was more prevalent with The Fame Monster and Born This Way), I personally don't think it discredits her as an artist or a musician. She's very generous with sharing credit, and as far as I know she always gives credit where it's due.

Good. This thread only has four pages while the one yesterday had almost 20. It shows how much people love drama.

People on here freak out and lose their **** waaaaaaaay too quickly. I don't even know where y'all find the energy to have constant meltdowns.

The energy and the time. I mean don't you have friends, a job, school, a hobby , or something ?

Absolutely agree with you there - she is leaps and bounds ahead of her peers in acknowledging that the entire 'Gaga' production is a collaborative effort from a wide range of tallent. After all, an architect isn't the only person to bring buildings and places into existence.

I also think you're probably right about the different methods. I wonder, possibly, if that is why I like the Fame Monster and Born This Way so much - because the song reflect that core melody and tone that came from just hammering it out on the piano.

I remember somewhere she mentioned that a lot of BTW stared its core on the piano, and it definitely sounded like that. I didn't get that with ARTPOP. Maybe I'm just biased?

how is this any better? just because it wasn't made "for" someone else doesn't mean it WAS made for (OR BY!) gaga. there's no reason to think it was at all, and the fact that it was available for another artist to riff over just goes to show that it wasn't for gaga originally or it wouldn't have been available like that. this changes not a scintilla for me.

you can see the people deliberately writing nonsense and spinning it in gaga's favour because they can't bear to see her discredited in any way. it's dopey.

In that sense, I guess it doesn't make it any better. I don't mind it too much, but I guess I just had a different vision of Gaga's artistic process. I don't know.

I agree, I don't really see how this changes anything at all. Yet people will do back bends to dismiss any negativity directed toward Gaga.

This whole situation is more then a little lame.
