LilVenusian 579
Look them up! Go ahead...you will see that they are not lyricists! They are DJs, Synths, and Sound Engineers. Good point, but the same could be said about Redone, Max Martin, Dr Luke etc, They are primarily producers by trade and probably contribute more to melodies/instrumental than actual lyrics. A professional lyricist is a really hard thing to define, i just picture all sorts of people in a room making contributions, and the more people in the room, probably the less genuine and authentic the finished product is going to be. And in all honesty, i value gaga's melodies more than I do her lyrics, and it concerns me that all these other "co-writers" could very well be writing these great melodies and not gaga. Ouranos 810
She lives and breathes those songs. And don't you dare compare her contributions to Katy's because we all know who has more input.
Stefani328 321
Fernando Garibay said once that she's given people writing credits for changing one word in a song so I don't think she gives herself too much credit there at all. Also with production, even if it was an already made beat, there's still changes to be made to it and I'm sure that she's involved in that process. You only have to look at what people who have worked with her say about her to know that she's completely involved in everything in regards to her work. You can tell by her lyrics that she writes the song, there's a certain style to them which you wouldn't get if the songs were by contributed to by a great amount by multiple different producers. This. Her lyrics ( even if they are cringeworthy sometimes ) make you realize it's a Gaga song. They have a certain flavour. I don't think this could be achieved if others were doing most of the work. She gives everyone credit even if they wrote a line or two. Plus, as someone already mentioned she doesn't work with songwriters like Katy Perry and Rihanna. Her producers are the songwriters. Her songwriters aren't Bonnie McKee, Linda Perry, or Neyo. Red one is the most known. An artist could write two lines and still credit themselves even if most of the song was written by other people.
LetsGetHigh 52,683
katy as wrote 3 songs by herself and 6 with only ONE writer among her 3 albums. I did say previously that she barely writes. Do you think 3 songs is okay within 3 LP albums?
Celina 118
No. Maybe it would seem fishy if she was the only one talking about it, but people who have worked with her have mentioned her involvement. By the reactions to the Donatella and MJH situations, she probably deserves more credit for her contributions, at least from this fan base. She writes her songs. And it's more than just melody and lyrics. You guys forget about her intense harmonies that are embedded into the instrumentals? Venus anyone?? If anything she deserves more credit for her contributions. She lives and breathes those songs. And don't you dare compare her contributions to Katy's because we all know who has more input. this She's made it clear she gives credits to anyone who is with her In the room during the song writing process. this Fernando Garibay said once that she's given people writing credits for changing one word in a song so I don't think she gives herself too much credit there at all. Whispering 18,865
katy as wrote 3 songs by herself and 6 with only ONE writer among her 3 albums. On Prism: Besides Dr. Luke and Max Martin, who are known as producers/songwriters, the other songwriters listed on are: Sia Furler, Bonnie McKee, Greg Kurston, Benny Blanco, Greg Wells, Henry Russell Walter, Klas Ahlund, Adam Baptiste, Sarah Theresa Hudson, Bloodshy & Avant, Vincent Pontare, and Magnus Lidehäll. Last, but not least, is Stargate- a Norwegian record producing and songwriting team who is credited with 4 of Rihanna's BB #1s. They also won the 2009 ASCAP Pop Songwriters of the Year award. The majority of Katy's songs have at least two songwriters, sometimes up to five. These are not synth guys or DJs. These are people who win Songwriter of the Year awards! Altair 2,000
It's easy to get carried away when you make something. She also can't go on tv and say that she only wrote 1/6 of the song. It'll be bad for her image. Get me? ;)

Katie14 4,828
I often wonder about this as well. We will never know how much she contributes.like others have said, if someone adds one word or half the song they may be credited the same way. You can't tell by checking the credits how much influence someone has.
