Why Is It Hard For Some To Understand and Admit The Decline of Gaga?

I agreed with this until her Steven Klein tweet a few minutes ago, now my hopes are UP for a fourth single bigger than Applause

Some people understand that having a hit on the charts doesn't necessarily mean it's any good. It means nothing.

That's pretty much it for me.

Plus I don't really see much of a decline. I still see her everywhere, in fact I see her more than I did during her "height," though that could be because I'm a relative newcomer into the whole Gaga experience. Maybe she's declined on some of the charts, but many of my favorite artists don't chart and don't care to chart, and it doesn't diminish my love for them. Maybe being mainstream she might need the charts, but I never have, never will care about the charts. I don't need them to validate my love for someone's music.

Plus I can't stand the music of many that DO chart high (no shade meant, but I can't stand most music by Bieber, Katy, Ke$ha, 1D, etc)

But back to topic, I still see her face on magazine covers, I still see her advertisements, I know many stores that still carry her perfume, etc. She's still everywhere to me, so to me there really hasn't been much of a decline.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

And sadly, many of the people complaining about ARTPOP's commercial failure probably didn't even buy the album or its singles

Can anyone name one artist who was on top of the world for six years straight and had no decline?..  :messga:

The saddest thing is that she has little influence and cultural relevance amongst the general public whereas in 2009/2010 she was talked about by everyone.

Her decline can be attributed to a string of bad decisions:

Alejandro Music Video (turned off the general public and sparked the comparison saga)

Born This Way (successful but the comparison hurt her aura of originality)

Judas (comparison saga continues and rehash of Bad Romance as a bad choice)

TEOG (providing bad video meant that people were no longer interested in future MVs)

Y&I (boring single choice did nothing to revive the BTW era)

MTN (5 singles in < 1 year meant she was overexposed and people got sick of her)

Applause (good release but delayed too much unfortunately due to hip, a new generation sprang and people forgot her)

Venus (switching singles made her look disorganized)

DWUW (no video was the nail in the coffin)

Along with this, since Alejandro, she has been continual hyper/promise maker but has only been a black hole of betrayals. She stopped working with Dada and professionals (self directing? really Gaga) and cancelling jobs like TEOG with Joseph Kahn. She never gives more than she promises, in fact because of her poor management she usually gives less than she promises. This is why people automatically expect her not to produce. Also her shock shtick got a lot of people tired.

So much tea spilled, I can't even!

All artists have their ups and downs though, but I personally believe she's been SPOILED by her own team lately. She really needs to start taking some advice of marketing specialists for her up coming moves or otherwise the 'Music Not The Bling' phylosophy will turn into 'There can't be music, because of the lack of bling to produce it". And I would really hate that to happen! :fail:

Shes just having a dip in her career. Similar to Beyoncés 4 era. People called it a flop but look at B now :flutter:

I think the real question is why is it hard for some people to understand that all artists have ups and downs and not make such a big f***ing deal about it?

This. No one is on top forever, and all artists go through high points and low points.

I haven't seen ANYBODY deny that she has declined in chart performance and sales.

So what kind of decline are you referring to OP?

Who is denying what decline?

A decline in music quality? Hmmmmm, that's pretty subjective, and I happen to love ARTPOP. If ARTPOP is not as good as some previous album of her's, it's at least as good any other album released in 2013, for my tastes. So, not really a decline there, but even if you think there is you can't say someone is in denial if they disagree.

This thread is made by a person who thinks ARTPOP is her best album to date.

The decline what I've been saying is obvious. A lot of people lost interest on her. Her latest numbers (sales/views/radio AI) are proofs on that.

Because its pretty futile and only encourages people to speculate on what went wrong. People tend to forget that shes only 28. A true "decline" cant be measured over the course of 6 years. She could very well recreate that mega fame/relevancy with the right album/song, especially since she has so much visibility and industry respect e.g her albums/lead singles will always garner alot of interest and hype, she will always be welcomed to the biggest industry events, have a huge media presence etc. Sometimes certain albums/songs dont connect as much with the the public, dosent mean that the artist become forever doomed and forgotten, especially with pop stars as uniquely talented as Gaga.

What are you talking about? Do you not log onto GGD that often or something?

It has been very clear to me for the past 8 months that this fan base very much realizes that Gaga has been in decline since Judas. Why else do you think we have a "what does Gaga need to do to win back the GP" thread every week? Your point genuinely makes no sense to me as someone who frequents this website. This fan base has been in turmoil since Applause first hit iTunes. I'd say ever since MTN flopped.

And what this thread truly appears to me is a deliberate attempt to bring this old ass subject to the fore front as if we're supposed to only focus on the fact that Gaga has declined.

And if you're referring to the thread where everyone responded to the OP with "she was never gone," TECHNICALLY Gaga is still in the music scene. She released an album not even a year ago. It was not in response to her decline, it's a response to the sentiment amongst the GP and even most of her fans that Gaga isn't doing anything. That she's lazy and doesn't promote. She IS here. She IS making music and she will continue to do so regardless of commercial success.

It's sad to me that you're trying to drag back this negativity and essentially forcing us to zoom in on Gaga's current inferiority like it's the most important thing about this fandom. We've been discussing this since 2011. This subject is done. Nobody here thinks Gaga is the future queen of pop anymore. Many even question her credibility and decision making on a regular basis.

Give it a rest and let fans think what they want.

Yes, but nobody is denying the decline in numbers.

Your OP says some of us are denying the decline. I was just saying there are only two kinds of decline: Decline in sales/popularity and decline in quality. Nobody is denying the decline in sales, so if you agree there is no decline in quality, then who are you arguing with?

(I guess there could also be a 3rd type of decline, which is decline in the number of videos, but nobody is denying that one either)
