disneyhigh 43
I kind of like to think of EDM as this generations rock n' roll, at least that's what it feels like in Southern California
RAMROD 109,528
Last lap tbh. It is getting exhausting. But it won't gone forever. It will return one day, refreshed, and with new tricks. Reinvented. Unlike Ska Music. :fan: (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ dancin' until i'm dead (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡
LilVenusian 579
Yes i feel like she's falling behind. Pop sensibilities are obviously moving in more organic+soulful directions (you can already see this influence in dance music already with people like Avici and Daft Punk having massive success). The super polished style of dance music gaga is attuned is kind of old news which is why I think GU Y was such a massive flop. I think that sound is being replaced by songs with a more grimy/urban edge (i.e fancy, dark horse). Pop music moves in cycles and trends and I guess Gaga's golden opportunity has ended and she either has to choose to adapt or get left behind... TEANUS 15,023
I think the popular fake-electronic pop song structure of verse->chorus->buildup->drop->repeat is coming to an end. But I frankly think that electronic music itself is on the rise and is the future of music. I think music like the music of Madeon will become the next big think I'm he coming years. In fact, I think if Madeon makes the right song he can become bigger than Zedd British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
MurderLipstick 44
Gagas EDM consists of using various instruments and effects, in my opinion. Most of the electronic songs that are played on the radio is drastically different than her material, considering there are many different types of EDM. Ronk 14,762
I like it. It's good to have the variety of many styles of music. Even if it goes away, the music will always be there from the past. I live outside the space time continuum.

I would really love it if her future material is similar to that. Or at least change the vocals throughout the song like she does when she sings live. iloveit123 130
Everything comes and goes, so if it is gone for a bit, it will be back... and who in the heck came up with calling it 'EDM'? Obviously i know it is electronic dance music and it was this before, but the whole EDM abbreviation can go. Gaga did really bring it back - not this EDM bullsh*t but electro meets pop.... i don't want it to go too far, hip hop always has too much of a hold on America. Though i like some hip hop, i cannot stand most of the top ten hip hop. Gaga definitely needs to change it up after 'ARTPOP'
AbuHassan1992 766
Look up the definition of a synthesizer, the main component of Gaga's music, before you make an ass out of yourself. Dance music is a diminutive of EDM, which is not to be confused with traditional dance music which lacks electronic instruments. The Fame was dance pop and synth pop which are both sub genres of Electronic Dance Music. just because a song has a synthesizer doesn't make it EDM. dance pop is not a sub genre of EDM. EDM is an umbrella term that includes beat-driven genres like house, trance, dubstep, d n' b, etc. Would you say that Tik Tok or California Gurls is EDM, too? Exuse me but EDM is prob the poorest definition for a musical style ever. What's not electronic about Just dance, Bad Romance or Judas? EDM seems to be a label for anything made on a computer to dance to, the term is really general to me and I guess I'm not the only one:It only stands to reason that “electronic dance musicâ€â€â€a term that didn’t really exist until a few years ago and is used to describe a genre that’s been popular around the world for decadesâ€â€would have a tough time staying within a narrow set of parameters. “In Europe, we never had the expression ‘EDM,’†says Dutch-born DJ Tiësto. “Everyone was in their own little scene: The house heads, the trance heads, the club heads … in America when you play, you can play all that stuff together. And there’s a lot of people who like to listen to everything and not just one style.†Adds Avicii: “I don’t see EDM anywhere else than in America. It’s a very American term.â€http://www.forbes.com/sites/zackomalleygreenburg/2013/08/14/avicii-and-the-ever-changing-definition-of-edm electronic doesn't not mean it's EDM. EDM seems to be a label for anything made on a computer to dance to, the term is really general to me and I guess I'm not the only one: you can't say Bad romance is EDM. EDM is Aviici, or Skrillex or Fatboy slim and those kinds of sounds. Just because it's made on the computer, doesn't mean it's EDM. That's wrong. Look up a definition of EDM on wikipedia, and then Dance pop or synth pop. No connection. Do the same with e.g. Just Dance or Bad romance or whatever. Tropico 4,145
Oh Little Managers! Gaga will not just fade away just because EDM is going through a rough. Anyway her branch of EDM isn't doing bad. Dance pop is still safe. It's the "rave" music which is fading from the looks of it but Dance Pop is pretty much safe as long as Gaga keeps bringing what she brings to the table. And Gaga is not like her peers (we all know who ) who stick to the same sound. She is constantly changing everything up. The Fame's simple yet fun electro production which paired with cute vocals and easy lyrics. Then The Fame Monster which had a very grande and theatrical production in songs like Bad Romamance and also a very sonically dark sound like Alejandro, SHICD and Speechless along with powerful vocals and interesting exciting lyrics and vocals. And I'm not gonna go on bc laziness. Edit: oh wait... Very strong rave music is still relevant. Actually, I don't think EDM is fading much at all. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢
Sleepy 5
I can't at this question right now... Is anyone aware of what EDM even is? There was a music festival called EDC in Vegas just this weekend and it sold out with 400,000 people months before it happened. It's solely all EDM music. If anything, it's becoming bigger than it ever has. The rave scene is getting only larger and larger each day. pop infused EDM, YES. FrancoRedHawk 35
Yes thankfully, and it's not a problem for Gaga since she can pull off any genre. She has a jazz album coming this year after all. She's milked EDM dry to the point where some songs on ARTPOP felt like complete rehashes. Time for a new direction This!
