AbuHassan1992 766
well the music she made in 2008 wasn't really EDM though.
XoXoJoanneGaga 629
Yes thankfully, and it's not a problem for Gaga since she can pull off any genre. She has a jazz album coming this year after all. She's milked EDM dry to the point where some songs on ARTPOP felt like complete rehashes. Time for a new direction

PrinceCAKE 0
Calvin Harris, Disclosure, and DJ Snake say otherwise. I give two more years. I don't want sounds like Am I Wrong and Rude to take over
ARTPOPchamp 292
EDM peaked last summer. That's why ARTPOP wasn't a smash on the radio. Applause did exceptionally well because it wasn't really EDM. Applause is more euro pop and euro dance than EDM. EDM had been mainstream since October 2011 when Rihanna released WE FOUND LOVE. Gaga even talked about the timing of the album being off when she said her management (ie Troy) mismanaged her time. That was clearly directed towards the timeline for ARTPOP and it's release. Schwerk 7,246
well the music she made in 2008 wasn't really EDM though. It was. The pop kind of EDM. The US was far behind on EDM and has taken a while to catch up with Europe. Here in the Netherlands, where many top DJs are from (Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Afrojack, Martin Garrix, Hardwell, Fedde leGrand etc.) EDM will always be popular since its rooted in our culture but lately singer songwriter type music does really well too. The US is originally way more Hiphop, R&B and rock oriented, so I can imagine the EDM trend slowing down a little. According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

Just dance, poker face, bad romance, judas etc. are in no way EDM. Look up a definition

Look up a definition Exuse me but EDM is prob the poorest definition for a musical style ever. What's not electronic about Just dance, Bad Romance or Judas? EDM seems to be a label for anything made on a computer to dance to, the term is really general to me and I guess I'm not the only one:It only stands to reason that “electronic dance musicâ€â€â€a term that didn’t really exist until a few years ago and is used to describe a genre that’s been popular around the world for decadesâ€â€would have a tough time staying within a narrow set of parameters. “In Europe, we never had the expression ‘EDM,’†says Dutch-born DJ Tiësto. “Everyone was in their own little scene: The house heads, the trance heads, the club heads … in America when you play, you can play all that stuff together. And there’s a lot of people who like to listen to everything and not just one style.†Adds Avicii: “I don’t see EDM anywhere else than in America. It’s a very American term.†http://www.forbes.com/sites/zackomalleygreenburg/2013/08/14/avicii-and-the-ever-changing-definition-of-edm/ According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch
Emvee 8,396
you're wrong. It was dance music. Not electronic dance music. Just dance, poker face, bad romance, judas etc. are in no way EDM. Look up a definition Look up the definition of a synthesizer, the main component of Gaga's music, before you make an ass out of yourself. Dance music is a diminutive of EDM, which is not to be confused with traditional dance music which lacks electronic instruments. The Fame was dance pop and synth pop which are both sub genres of Electronic Dance Music.

disneyhigh 43
i went to one of the biggest music festivals of the year this past weekend, EDC, and I definitely hope so. I saw the scene become so mainstream, since I started going in 2010. I kind of have a feeling EDM will always be around though, turnt down for what? Latch? Those are EDM songs sooooo....
