djBuffoon 12,123
"Applause" is not even in the top 5 songs from ARTPOP, especially in terms of of wit, relate-ability, or musical prowess. I'm still looking for one good reason to question this opinion. It is a fun song, though.
Hexxx 2,244
"Applause" is not even in the top 5 songs from ARTPOP, especially in terms of of wit, relate-ability, or creative risk. I'm still looking for one good reason to question this opinion. It is a fun song, though. I'm talking commercially wise Lady Gaga/ Madonna/Lana /Azealia Banks/ Jazmine Sullivan/ DEEE-LITE/ Moko
djBuffoon 12,123
I'm talking commercially wise With ALL due respect, "better" might not be the best word to use in your title in that case.
MikeGoneGaga 86
A song chosen as a 1st single always get a special sound, even if the song is not that good. For example, "Run The World" isn't the best song from 4, but after all these performances and thanks to its video and its lead single treatment, we hear it differently. Same goes for California Gurls. Fixed it. :) Tbh I don't think any of her lead singles are the best songs from their respective albums. Agreed. They're the hypeman for the rest of the album. The...Pharrell in Blurred Lines or all those skits in Lil' Kim's Albums. They help to set the stage....hopefully for something better to come. Then, the GP does what they do. Also, "best" is different for everyone. While, Swine & Jewels 'n Drugs (none of which are super popular on here) are my favorites and those two along with MJH are my best...it doesn't mean anything to anyone else. I digress. Point is: Lead singles are meant to be impactful, different, and set an atmosphere for the eras to come. Doesn't make 'em the best musically or lyrically. LilVenusian 579
Are u seriously coming for Queen Gaga's chart consistency (something she has completely no control over) Lead singles almost always get the most hype and attention, dosent make them any more better i.e Poker Face and Paparazzi sh*ts all over Just Dance. Not to mention Gaga is out here crafting iconic bops such as Sexxx Dreams and Venus only to get them payed complete dust by her record label.
Bio 23,538
DWUW is way better than Applause
Nein 508
There are definitely songs better than the lead single in the albums
blacklistedd 599
I think the majority of Born This Way is better than Born This Way, in fact I think its one of the weaker tracks on the album. Bad Romance is one of her trademark singles, however, the rest of The Fame Monster was ****ing dope. The Fame had songs as good if not better than Just Dance. ARTPOP has songs just as good as Applause. I guess I don't agree with this thread at all lol it would have been good to have Applause then follow up with another smash and not a lesser song do what u want was not a lesser song. its kind of one of her best singles in years, unfortunately publics negative perception of her prevented the song from being accepted. its literally nothing more than that. Anderson123 38,431
Well, I remember Gaga saying that Born This Way (the song) was the marijuana to the heroine of the album. And I agree... Born This Way was great, but the album tracks were amazing! The Fame Monster had Bad Romance as the lead single, and it depends on people's taste if they think Dance In The Dark is better than that song, who knows, it's a matter of taste. I love both songs. As for ARTPOP, I actually think there are a couple of songs that were better than Applause, not that many though, and I'm disappointed. Do What U Want is definitely the top track on that album. boneknuckleskin 776
She already did, that album was titled The Fame Monster. Monster > Alejandro > Bad Romance. She did it again with Born This Way. Marry The Night > Heavy Metal Lover > Scheiße > Born This Way.
Pain of fame1 229
Sexxx Dreams, Venus, MJH and ARTPOP are a lot better than Applause. THIS. And Gypsy of course. ARTPOP is the album where there are more than 4 lead single-esque songs. Almost all songs can be hit singles in #artSLAY. Look at Dope.. a Top 10...
