There were singles better than Just Dance but with the other albums, the lead singles tend to smash the other tracks.

 

I'm not trying to compare her to other artists and I'm not trying to be chart hungry, This was just something I've noticed. It would be great to have album where her singles get better and better and not just have a smash lead and release lesser smashes.

I get what you mean, theres just something about that first single that you dont feel with the rest of the album maybe it's because its the first single? Not necessarily the song...Just the fact that its the first before we get the rest of the album, if that makes sense

That's the point of lead singles is to be the top track of the whole album and be the most memorable 

 

There might be tracks questionable to be better, but they usually spend more of their time on the lead single.  It's possible.  I mean, imo Marry the Night, Bloody Mary and Scheisse is better than BTW

Eh... I think Applause is like.. my top 10 but not top 5 of ARTPOP.

 

I usually always like Lead Singles, but they are rarely the best song on the album for me o.o.

 

Hidden Gems shine brighter to me ;)

A song chosen as a 1st single always get a special sound, even if the song is not that good. For example, "Run The World" isn't necessarily the best song from 4, but after all these performances and thanks to its video and its lead single treatment, we hear it differently. Same goes for California Gurls.
