Emvee 8,399
I am so glad you sad this. It's true. There is an intellectual fallacy with being modern and s-xual but still religious. Wah some women choose to wear religious pieces such as the burqa but it's naive to ignore its roots in misogyny and s-xual censorship. But don't you think that's part of the reason why she chose "burqa?" It's an iconic image that has themes of s-xual censorship and control over women. Her interpretation of it is to assert the idea that she is in fact a s-xual being, despite the media and public having ripped her humanity (because hermaphroditism is regarded as unnatural by most people) and femininity from her by calling her a hermaphrodite (lady seashell bikini)? Gaga asserts her humanity, femininity, and s-xuality within the first 3 songs of ARTPOP.
WorkBeep 0
I would have been slayed so much harder by Aura. It would have made Roar look even more basic.
Bloody hooker 6,445
Aura had so much potential the whole album had so much potential the app had so much potential the WHOLE ERA had so much potential This This mutual gaze was a “longing to touch” or a "pre-coitus" stare. Sugarfall 3,723
I love the song, but it wouldnt have been good innovative controversy. She would've only gotten scalped even worse and Little Managers would've basically killed themselves with how much of a mess this era had gone. GagaisHotAF 419
Tbh when it leaked she should have released it as the debut single for ARTPOP Probably on Grindr
WorkBeep 0
Tbh when it leaked she should have released it as the debut single for ARTPOP I agree! It should have been released like right after and she be like "surprise b---hes.. ARTPOP yassss"

Controversy isn't controversy if your not pissing people off. I could see it backfiring if it was handled tacky but handled the right way I think it could work in her favor. Kayhan 7
Best song on ARTPOP tbh. Listening to it on a daily basis. It could have slayed actually, with the demo version and a good video containing 3 songs like ARTPOP film.
destructivelove 563
I can't and I won't. The only good vocals are the ones remaining from the demo. preach
Dayman 6,179
I think you vastly overestimate the amount of contorversy it would generate. If her wearing a burqa wasn't a huge deal - I don't think her saying it would be a bigger one. Especially when radio could censor it easily.

Manul 7,377
radio support? aura was getting radio support with its demo version the damn song peaked at the dance/electronic chart at 14 without even being a promo single idc about what everyone else says, that song would have snatched that 2 on billboard. it is experimental but the chorus makes up for it, most "Gaga" song on the album imo this album had so much potential ugh it wasn't laaaahv
Bebe 17,093
I never said she isn't doing good, or that she is going broke lol I just said that we already have a video that promotes the album - G.U.Y. and it didn't get radio supprt so where did it take the single and the album? Nowhere... I'm sorry, but we have to be real! artRAVE is doing a fantastic job as well as Gaga and that's amazing, but releasing Aura as the next single from ARTPOP and one video won't make any change for this era unfortunatelly.. But why do you care about the chart positions for the song and album? Gaga says she is about the music not the bling right? And quite frankly you can't call an era a flop when she is on a worldwide tour promoting a #1 album with a top 5 single. You can't call an era a flop when she has a video at Hearst Castle and a video with Jonas Ã…kerlund following her hugely successful Paparazzi/Telephone trilogy. **** radio, **** chart positions who cares? She isn't going to be losing money on this whole ARTPOP project so it isn't like anybody needs to worry about that. When she keeps creating these high concept, well filmed videos the media and everyone will not be able to dismiss her so easily. Quite frankly all I want is another Lady Gaga video, because I am a fan of her and not the charts.

Radio would have played it tbh. It's such a risky song and the fact that it's so different would make a bold statement about the kind of pop star she is. Instead we get Applause. A good song, but boring imo.

And a video would also help. Probably on Grindr
