OrphanBlack 0
I would love if she had a back to basics era like Xtina and maybe even a collab with her on the album and combine Jazz and Pop. That would be interesting. She could even throw some EDM in there too. Idk the possibilities are endless.

Mills 446
One or two albums wouldn't hurt. But completely abandoning the genre which made me a fan of hers in the first place? Likely not.ย
DrewStevens 5,249
I'm not sure what you mean by either of these statements. What makes pop music more diverse or more versatile than jazz? Jazz fusion, where you have jazz influenced by classical music, electronic music, experimental music, and yes, pop music, is huge... I think we have different definitions of pop music. I consider pop music to be a certain type of music with certain musical characteristics. It doesn't have to be popular. In addition, pop music has changed so much that some types of pop music might not even be recognizable as pop nowadays. That's why I distinguish between pop music as a genre, popular music as music made for commercial consumption, and contemporary music which is "recently made." If you see pop music as encompassing all popular music ever, then yeah, that's a huge backlog to draw from, but you'd technically be counting stuff like parlor music, show tunes, and even early jazz as popular music. I prefer to be a bit more specific, but I should realize that people don't use the same definitions as me. "Pop music" has so many different definitions that it's hard to tell what anyone means by it when they say it! It's because pop music is not a genre with specific characteristics anymore. Yes, not all popular songs are pop songs but most mainstream artists make pop music. In Pop music you can incorporate elements from every genre, something that doesn't happen with other genres.
