Brandon 457
Gaga wasn't taking risks. The things she did is why people love her it fits with her persona 'Lady Gaga'.
Gagz 2,579
No, the song itself was pretty commercial. So lyrical content doesn't count?
PopBitch 1,218
A meat dress isn't risky. It is something that will stand out and what she wanted and will be remembered. Very smart on her part. Born This Way as her next album was risky.
FRANK1991 3,329
none of them could withstand these things cause their hearts can't beat with bricks and strings YAAAAS LOL Cause once you let it go you better know it's gone

LilVenusian 579
Lol of course not, it goes completely against the brand/persona they've built. Those are not even actual risks by gaga standards. Its kind of an expectation, especially from her fan base, to dress and act crazy. If she were to come out in a jeans and a t-shirt for an entire album and still be a success than that would actually be withstanding a huge risk. The word "risk" gets thrown around too easily imo... holy scheisse 22,274
You don't think releasing a song about a bi-curious experience as a debut single is risky? still mad about it cause she never actually kissed a girl

Curunir 7,510
I think they would've withstood such risks, but not with nearly the amount of success as Gaga. Probably would've ended up in oblivion for a while, until they came back with something generic.
Cody Draco 2,531
I don't mean to be rude, but I think you're delusional if you consider the meat dress risky. It was a fashion piece worn on 1 night. Born this Way was risky because it was an entire album/era. What's risky is Sinead Conner's picture burning performance. Smh @ people calling Dark Horse risky, when that is the best song on Prism and it sounds similar to Royals production wise imo. Dark Horse was a clear hit. giskardsb 12,565
The typical pop star would have followed TFM with a RedOne centric album designed to capitalize on existing popularity. Gaga used that momentum instead to bring LGBQT rights to the forefront of discussion, and at the same time changed production to meld her dance pop with classic rock influences. So yes it was a big risk in the context of a pop star. Strangely many gay fans seem to prefer she pursued the normal path of her success even at the expense of her activism on their behalf. That is superficial thinking.

That is superficial thinking. Perfect comment, in every way! How did those gay fans repay Gaga for her risky choice with BTW? How did fans repay Gaga for giving every second of her life to her career and her fans? For writing and recording on the road and her hectic, non-stop promo schedule that went straight into a massive physical demanding worldwide tour...where she broke her effing hip in her 20s? By whining and complaining when they had to eat some crow because they had been acting like asses over at ATRL. When it all comes down to it, that's the main crux of the problem for the majority of the perpetually pissed stans this era!
