"I don't need to be on top to know I'm worthy because I'm strong enough to know the truth". The entire song is explained in the bridge. And the sound isn't current. It's futuristic EDM/electro-pop. Like it doesn't fit in the past. It sounds very fresh for a pop star. Not to heavy EDM like selfie but not to easy like a britney song. You're just saying that because it didn't do well. G.U.Y. Is a great song. Actually I think that GUY is heavier EDM than Selfie. Selfie is more of the same EDM that we have been hearing for the past 2, while GUY has heavier and more edgy synths. Applause was the right first single and it proved it by staying strong for many months and it was used by shows on TV as intros. I heard it everywhere. GUY would have put her dead in the water. You're right... It doesn't sound current... It sounds a head of the game. This is a whole new game. This album is an electro-pop sound like no other. Especially songs like G.U.Y., Aura, MJH, Applause and Donatella. It's the perfect blend of edm and pop music. It doesn't sound loud and irritating like a lot of EDM these days. It also doesn't sound to bubblegum pop like Eh, Eh. It's a perfect balance. Show casing her vocals while still giving fresh new beats. Sounds like something which'll be huge. Actually I think that GUY is heavier EDM than Selfie. Selfie is more of the same EDM that we have been hearing for the past 2, while GUY has heavier and more edgy synths. Are you being serious ? G.U.Y. Is just a very dance emphasised dance pop track. It's no where neeeeeaaaaarrrr as hardcore as SELFIE. SELFIE is just a lash of EDM strips. G.U.Y. Is the most EDM in the intro and ending. MJH? Honestly ? It is not hardcore. And Aura? That's not hardcore either. Listen to Martin Garrix... He is hardcore. And dance pop and EDM are quite different... Dance pop is more about making you get up and dance but more focused on the vocals. We don't know for sure. I'm happy for her to do whatever she feels is best. Gaga is the artist. ARTPOP isn't my favourite album however if she stuck with her original plans I would have respected ARTPOP a lot more. I think that's a really unfair comment. It's obvious from the little we know, that due to what was going on within her team/management around the start of the era, and the personal effects that had on her, it would've been impossible to stick to whatever her original plans for the era were. In fact, Gaga isn't even on tour. She has retired to her big mansion and stacks of money and won't make a new album until her team of writers and producers make one for her. I disagree because I think the circumstances surrounding the issues and the reasons for those issues were different to anything in previous eras. If she got rid of some songs, it would be a far more respected album. I'd have made G.U.Y. the first single this era and PROPERLY promoted it. Then Do What U Want, which was going great with the GP, but it would have done so much better if it had a MV or more promotion. You are overrating G.U.Y. And dance pop and EDM are quite different... Dance pop is more about making you get up and dance but more focused on the vocals. And EDM is mostly focused on the beat and raver vibes. I have listened to Martin Garrix and only some of his songs are hardcore. And once again, EDM is just the main label/title for many categories of electronic dance music. The categories include dance pop, dubstep, trap, house, techno, ect. So dance pop and EDM can't be different because they are the same thing.
