Rolodex of Hate 1,761
Rubbish. The lyrics couldn't be easier to understand. Girl. Under. You. "I don't need to be on top to know I'm worthy because I'm strong enough to know the truth". The entire song is explained in the bridge. And the sound isn't current. It's futuristic EDM/electro-pop. Like it doesn't fit in the past. It sounds very fresh for a pop star. Not to heavy EDM like selfie but not to easy like a britney song. You're just saying that because it didn't do well. G.U.Y. Is a great song. This G.U.Y was never going to do well. Its lyrics are confusing for the GP and the sound isn't current. It's also kind of an average quality Gaga single. Not as good as many of her other singles. I actually think that the sound is extremely current, especially because it is produced by Zedd. It's probably the most relatable song off ARTPOP too. Slayer 9,227
Noooo. She doesn't literally wanna be a guy . The theme is she can be submissive and stuff because she's already confident enough to know she wears the pants(tie in this case) in the relationship. And it's a new age feminism song. Being confident enough to be submissive for the sake of having a good time. And the bridge... How is that anything like bad romance? If anything the CLOSEST (which isn't too close) is Love Game bridge. Imo the verses flow perfectly with the song. The people who I've played it to got the meaning of the song... And those who didn't just thought it was a s-xy love song. If that's what they think then it isn't confusing. And repititive chorus? Poker face, TEOG. Both are repetitive and were huge hits. Soo... Yes, I know that. That's why I said "play the role of a guy". The G.U.Y bridge sounds very similar to the Bad Romance chorus and I'm not the only one who thinks this. Poker Face and TEOG are generally much superior choruses which is why they were hits. Repetition isn't bad, but in G.U.Y's case the main hook isn't very catchy in the first place. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's a bad song. I like it, but I understand why it's not caught on with the public. I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!! hughdancy 282
Finish the era tbh, once the tour is done, do the space thing, take a few months off and start working on a new concept for an album. I don't think she can do that again tbh. The hip-repairing gap after being on tour did her NO favours in the public light.

lxdygxga 3,353
She could keep it going, but I don't know how much it'd help - the damage was already done a while ago. It's time to move on, but I definitely don't think another break is the answer to getting people back on board. The longer she's away, the harder it'll be to come back. She needs to bring out new music relatively soon, and plan her era out better this time.

llbcherry 591
It would be a cringefest if she kept it going. It's a shame because I, too, love ARTPOP, and of course want more videos and performances, however, given the public reception of ARTPOP, I think it may be best that it fizzled out. Just let haters forget about it and come back strong.
Born To Slay 10,996
If she had promoted G.U.Y. properly, it could have easily gone to no.1 Also, I feel that ARTPOP should have been released as an EP. If she got rid of some songs, it would be a far more respected album. I'd have made G.U.Y. the first single this era and PROPERLY promoted it. Then Do What U Want, which was going great with the GP, but it would have done so much better if it had a MV or more promotion. How much promo did DWUW need? AMAs, SNL, The Voice, X Factor, etc She did a lot of bug promo

Emvee 8,412
I don't think she can do that again tbh. The hip-repairing gap after being on tour did her NO favours in the public light. This. And we all thought Gaga was regrouping during the 6 months before the era, which she was, but in the end it didn't really help much. Things still fell apart at the last minute. Stop hoping for her to suddenly get her groove back. Inspiration comes best when it's organic, not when you sit down and force it out. The ARTPOP era should keep going until she finds a new concept. These breaks do nothing except push her even further out of the loop of the music industry.
Guest
It's not really over. GUY is still climbing the dance chart. Plus, we don't know what the three-week break will hold.
djBuffoon 12,123
I would've loved to see further videos and live videos, seeing as how this is my favorite of hers. But many of her own fans were incredibly ungrateful from the word-go so I totally understand why she didn't press forward.

Is a great song. No, it doesn't sound fresh. It doesn't sound really all that current. Plus it sounds like a weaker mixture of some of her other songs. Applause was the right first single and it proved it by staying strong for many months and it was used by shows on TV as intros. I heard it everywhere. GUY would have put her dead in the water. Luis8Knives 0
I don't mind to the era too much, but she needs to start releasing material quickly to bounce back from the mishap. I'm still not sure why the downfalls were never handled properly in the first place...
