G.U.Y was never going to do well. Its lyrics are confusing for the GP and the sound isn't current. It's also kind of an average quality Gaga single. Not as good as many of her other singles.

Rubbish. The lyrics couldn't be easier to understand. Girl. Under. You. "I don't need to be on top to know I'm worthy because I'm strong enough to know the truth". The entire song is explained in the bridge. And the sound isn't current. It's futuristic EDM/electro-pop. Like it doesn't fit in the past. It sounds very fresh for a pop star. Not to heavy EDM like selfie but not to easy like a britney song. You're just saying that because it didn't do well. G.U.Y. Is a great song.

If she had promoted G.U.Y. properly, it could have easily gone to no.1

Also, I feel that ARTPOP should have been released as an EP. If she got rid of some songs, it would be a far more respected album. I'd have made G.U.Y. the first single this era and PROPERLY promoted it. Then Do What U Want, which was going great with the GP, but it would have done so much better if it had a MV or more promotion.

AGREED!

She should have released it as ARTPOP Act I with 8 tracks and worked on more better music for ACT II that would be released later this year.

Better Day

It was going okay the era till the DWUW video mess, since then we have had like 3 public performances.

So yeah, Gaga should just cater for us now, She's finished GP wise

I think ARTPOP commercially has finished- But that doesn't mean the era has!

She should use this opportunity to be free, she can literally do what ever she wants at the moment (creative works, art, risky singles) because at this point it really doesn't matter what the GP or her label think

This. The GP isn't going to understand the song when they casually hear it on the radio. It's confusing and too smart for radio.

I would release Gypsy as a next single in fall with a video including footage of the tour around the world. It would be a nice way to end the era.

The acronym is easy to get, but the whole idea of the song is that it's a gender subversion. She wants to be the "girl under you" and play the role of "guy" at the same time. It's a weird, confusing concept because in one breath she's saying she wants to be submissive, and in the other breath, she wants to "wear the tie" and put make-up on her guy. I think this whole concept, as smart as it is, is just too out-there for the GP. They're intelligent lyrics, but people don't seem to want intelligent lyrics in a pop song...

Also, I'm not saying G.U.Y. isn't great because it didn't do well. I thought this before it became a single. Musically, it's just average, IMO. The chorus is repetitive, the bridge is a copy of Bad Romance, and the verses don't blend well with the production at all. The pre-chorus is excellent, though. Just my opinion. :)

I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!

I love your idea, but I don't think Mary Jane Holland is sub par at all.

Releasing ARTPOP initially as an EP would have been a good idea, as somebody else said, cutting out the songs that are obviously not up to the standard of the others.

I reckon she might be able to drag the era out a bit longer with some sort of Fame Monster-style re-release of ARTPOP. Some standout tracks from ARTPOP along with a few new tracks to end the era? Tracklist something like:

Aura

Venus

G.U.Y.

new song

Sexxx Dreams

Tea

Do What U Want

ARTPOP

Partynauseous

Swine

Onion Girl

Tinnitus

Gypsy

Applause

Noooo. She doesn't literally wanna be a guy :sharon:. The theme is she can be submissive and stuff because she's already confident enough to know she wears the pants(tie in this case) in the relationship. And it's a new age feminism song. Being confident enough to be submissive for the sake of having a good time. And the bridge... How is that anything like bad romance? If anything the CLOSEST (which isn't too close) is Love Game bridge. Imo the verses flow perfectly with the song. The people who I've played it to got the meaning of the song... And those who didn't just thought it was a s-xy love song. If that's what they think then it isn't confusing. And repititive chorus? Poker face, TEOG. Both are repetitive and were huge hits. Soo... :miley:

Everything were going good untill the mess with the DWUW video. If only it had been released Around AMA-The voice promo then DWUW would been a much bigger hit. Then she should have had the 3rd single ready for the grammys and BRIT awards and peformed there. Then released a fourth when the tour started (gypsy) and release the video during the tour. Then do a new video now during the break for the 5th single to be ready when gyspy started to fall.

ARTPOP are full of songs that could been singles. Applause, Do what u want, Venus, Gypsy, Sexxx dreams, Aura, MANiCURE, G.U.Y and ARTPOP all deserved to be singles and have videos on the their own. 2 videos and 3 singles during 1 year and almost no promo for the 3rd one is just stupid.
