VforVendetta 2,024
I don't think it's right to say that the Swinefest versions caused people to like the final songs less because we heard them first. In my honest opinion (and I know this is shared by some) some of the Swinefest versions were just better to my taste and that has nothing to do with the chronology of listenings. I don't think any of your points are factual, except the anticipation factor that indeed is bigger when you hear everything at once, even though Gaga herself gave an equally rational reasoning with her infamous "cumshot" a--logy.Not at all, when you get used to a particular version of a song for some time and then it gets changed then you can't used to the new sound easily. Also the mystery is lost when you know the process.
Anomaly 159
I agree with you. I'm very grateful for the Gaga demos that we got, for many of them include qualities that are far superior to the final studio versions, but the fans by no means should be granted access to those demos. Like you said, it devalues the final product. That being said, at the end of the day, we're all here for great music. If the demos are great music, and maybe even greater than the final pieces, then I'm very pleased to hear them. I also find that hearing both the demos and the final studio versions inspire young fans to create music themselves, as the fans begin to mix and match the different versions together to create a new, personalized sound that may be even better than what the artist put out. Gagz 2,579
this is why noone complained with TFM, because it came out of nowhere. Didn't we have the Alejandro and Bad Romance demos pre-TFM? And we had a live version of Speechless. Personally, I never like demos more than the album version, so I don't care one way or the other. I think demos are fun to have and to hear the transformation.
ReRe 1,957
I see nothing wrong with it tbh. But of course, that is, AFTER the song has been released. So the fans can stop complaining.

They were either very similar with the final versions ir very bad and unfinished compared to them. Speechless is the same studio and live. :emm is there a Scheisse demo :nooo: ? Didymus 34,379
Not at all, when you get used to a particular version of a song for some time and then it gets changed then you can't used to the new sound easily. Also the mystery is lost when you know the process. I think you're generalizing. And it's not even true. It's perfectly possible to get used to album versions of a song and then hear a remix or a live version that just suits you better instantly, even if you are used to the album one The same with demo's. I've gotten used to both the Swinefest versions and the album versions and that didn't imply a change in views at all. That mystery thing is something that's entirely up to your own way of looking at music. I don't find songs "mysterious" because I don't know their recording process. Maybe that affects some people, but not me and I can't imagine I'm the only one who thinks that way. You could even argue that's it's more respectful to the artist to appreciate the entire recording process instead of the final product. Just to show that it all comes down to personal perspectives/opinions in the end.

(I may be flawless I haven't become a god yet ) I see that many people see it the same way though. (not that it proves that I am right)
U-GO-BOY 1,608
I like to listen to demos because I love the process of how a song is made, what changed and what stayed

TimisaMonster 31,073
I feel the demo ruins it for me, because sometimes I prefer the way a demo sounds over the album version....*cough* AURA *cough* However, if it leaks, what can ANYONE do? SpadesToStart 3,448
Rather than it being a problem the fan's access to and reception of demos, I think some of the problem had to do with Gaga's creative process in the ARTPOP era. Namely, I think she worked on the songs for WAY too long. Some of them had been in production since late 2011. She just kept tinkering and changing things for months (even years) on end. The problem with this is that her tastes and ideas in 2013 probably changed from when she originally created the song in 2012. All that time just makes her loose confidence in her work and her vision.
