AbuHassan1992 766
Because it's wrong to expect someone to change their values and beliefs for your own satisfaction. She values the music she has done with ARTPOP. She believes an artist should write and produce their own songs. This is will more than likely result in music that is less polished and more raw. This is the road she has chosen and her aesthetic will develop in that direction. If you think that results in subpar music, YOU are the one that needs to switch their focus. Not her. I'm not saying she should sacrifice her values, but I AM allowed to say that I have been disappointed. I don't need to switch my focus. It's stupid to say that. I know what she's capable of, but at the end of the day, she is selling a product, and you can't deny that. I'm not saying it's bad just because it's a product, but it's a product nontheless. I spend my money on her albums, and I spend my money to see her show. If I'm not satisfied, I have every right to say so. By the way, I never said I wasn't satisfied with the music, but the work as a whole. I actually enjoyed the album a lot, but it grew old after some time. In my opinion, born this way, the fame and the fame monster were better albums, and also better projects in terms of the whole package including shows and aestetics. But again, this is only how I feel; you're free to e.g. hate the fame and love ARTPOP. I'm just adding my two cents, that's all. Isn't that what this forum is for? Over at kanyetothe, people criticize where it's due and praise where it's due all the time and nobody jumps on them or accuses them of only being here for the success (which, I am not, by the way. Couldn't care less about the charts). That's what an internet forum is for: discussing the work of an artist.

giskardsb 12,565
I think it's even worse that people are insisting that she change her direction in order to do what they want to their tastes, rather than let Gaga do what she wants. At least this is understandable, everyone wants music that they like. What I don't get is those that claim to like her music but still want her to change to appeal to the public. That seems like misplaced priorities.
Ronk 14,762
I agree. Fans want Gaga to top the charts and win awards at all costs. Gaga, on the other hand wants to make music to her own creative vision on her own terms. Many of her fans like such music but much of the public doesn't. I'm in the camp that wants Gaga to do anything she wants because I think this will result in the best music even if it doesn't top the charts. Artistic posterity is more important than immediate gain, imo. I live outside the space time continuum.
