Some modern art paintings are considered garbage, not art, to some people but are highly regarded by others. Music is art by definition, but what makes it art? Works by Bach are considered art, but what makes them art? Is it when he uses chords or chord progressions that have never been used before ... when he pushes the boundaries? Or is it art when in part of one of his works he moves the listener deeply? If we can find answers to these question, it may help us find the art in ARTPOP. For example, if it's art to have an emotional effect on the listener, then I would say the "Tonight" moment in Gypsy is art because it gives the listener a sudden lift. The topic of art in ARTPOP is AP a thousand times, but I find these topics interesting. When we talk about art in music, I think there is a lot to consider. I live outside the space time continuum.
